Is gender studies on the decline?

I could be completely wrong but the way things are going in the US at least I could see college attendance in general decline due to the outrageous expense that may only qualify you for a min-wage job. And I would expect the majors with the worst employment/pay rates to take the hardest hit. This would definitely include gender studies.

I'd need to see a source saying that enrolment is declining first. However, even if it is I don't think that's necessarily evidence for a decline.

A lot of these gender studies teachers probably have tenure and will be there for years to come. Even if they weren't teaching a gender studies class (because there was no enrolment) they'd probably just do a class in sociology or a "Psychology of Gender" class. They'd just transfer over to another discipline and fill it with their rhetoric.

No, they're enrolling because it's an easy major and it piques their interest. If I could get a degree in watching cartoons and action movies, I would. Don't mean I can make a career from it.

Gender studies is diversifying and branching out. It's bleeding itself into obscurity by trying to mesh into every other field it can. However, it's not working very well.

I'd see it more that the economy is in the shitter for most people and gender studies, as ideologically satisfying as it may be to some, doesn't pay the bills.

Humanities attendance is down in colleges, so gender studies majors are going to become more scarce.
