I frequently come across a division between people on this /r/ and other men's rights groupings.

Crowd 1:

Men are being feminised by feminists! Stop this now! Let men be men!

Crowd 2:

Let men be whatever they want to be. Stop the culture making men be a certain way, through shaming language etc.

For me the issue of clothing freedom highlights this divide. I think everyone should be free to wear whatever they like. Many have responded to this as me advocating the feminisation of men, as it will mean men are now ok to wear less durable/rugged clothing such as dresses/skirts/scarves/whatever else females wear.

Well, let's take a step back and consider men's liberation/rights here. I think it is being more true to men's rights to advocate for clothing freedom than to emote about a moral panic over feminisation. I think there is a risk, in complaining about feminisation, that we might ignore the plight of men as being disposable in all cultures around the world, leading to such things as shorter longevity, higher suicide rate, higher participation in the death professions etc etc.

In clothing freedom, we will have a proxy for male freedom. It will mean that men truly can do whatever they like with their lives, from being a champion boxer to an obscure biro collector to a cake decorator.

Fuck it. If the men's rights movement isn't going to give me more freedom, I'm fucking done with it and it's already obsolete. If it's just going to seek to continue to MAKE MEN OUT OF MALES, then the MRM is just the status quo in disguise.

And i'm not dumb.
