Why don't people who are sentenced to pay more in alimony than they earn (Or really anything that leaves them net earning under the poverty line) sue for cruel and unusual punishment? The stress of helplessly watching yourself go bankrupt would be defense enough...

Edit: Since everyone is too poor afterwards to get a lawyer to sue, why not find other victims and file a class-action suit if a particular judge, etc, frequently goes overboard on sentencing?
