Hi, this is my first post to Reddit, period. I've long been interested in the site, but I never quite found a sub that worked for me. I was curious to check out the MRA section, because I'd been wondering about the issues involving men in society for sometime.

I see a lot of good going on in the MRA sub here. I've tried to point my friends to it, but they say it's just a horrible nesting ground for Misogyny. I see it as the one place I can actually have a decent dialogue about issues involving men without being screamed about "How I don't understand women's problems, or Rape Culture!"

And that's funny, and exceptionally arrogant to me, you see, I'm a male rape survivor, when I was seven a cousin of mine, he was like 14 or so when it started I think, he told me were going to "play a game" and whalaa, my earliest childhood trauma. I was about 7 when it started, 9 when it ended. How far did it go? Well, what I remember vividly was him demanding that I perform oral. What I remember in bits and pieces are the really horrible parts. Occassionally my anus still clenches. I don't know how many times it happened, I stopped counting after the third.

The reason I was interested in the MRA was that I wanted to discuss these issues in front of other men, not in front of women. For women being raped is a hyped up event. They expect it around every corner and in some cases, fantisize about how horrible it must be. Well I'll tell you, the first thing is that Rape is just a word. That's it. The realilty is that it's not the act itself that's horrible. It's the stigma around it that makes it horrible. They don't live with as a gender being told that you're the "Rapist Gender" but as a double whammy, because I'm a MALE rape survivor, society sees me as being more prone to become a rapist in later life. It's quite an interesting form of victim blaming I have to say.

So, this is my question to my fellow Redditors here, who else is a Male/Male Rape survivor? I'm kind of sick of seeing all these posts about older female teachers abusing young men, and while I do agree, those women have committed crimes that men would be thrown into prison for and got off instead (No pun intended). But seriously, this is an issue I think we're avoiding, and I don't agree with that. Do I think men are the rapist gender? No, but until we have a dialogue about Male/Male rape, I don't think we're gonna be able to disprove that. So, thoughts?
