I'm sure the regulars here on /r/MensRights are all familiar with the various ways that men are being outpaced by women. A quick summary:

  • College enrollment

  • Primary school

  • Wages (among young singles)

  • It goes on

And on that topic, there have been many who claim that we need to "man up" and stop playing video games, watching TV, and being single. We supposedly need to get married and start families at once! Don't misunderstand me, there are problems with that. For instance, children lacking realistic male roll models. And the bulleted list above is quite disturbing.

However, there is a silver lining to the cloud. It is a lining that many traditionalists (including some feminists, obviously) fail to see.

For a long time, men have been defined by how many hours we work, how much we make, and how many kids we have. Young men are doing what makes them happy. That doesn't always mean working long hours. It doesn't always mean owning a fast car which one scarcely has the time to drive. Young men are enjoying themselves. That's cause for celebration. Surveys of female happiness, on the other hand, note downward trends (something to do with stressful college classes and jobs, perhaps?).

So when you're feeling frustrated with the problems facing men, remember that the number of MGTOW is on the rise. We have done much to shed our old skins. Above all, there's always a silver lining. Even if it is a small one.
