This whole #metoo situation has left me more frustrated than I would have thought. The idea of denouncing sexual abuse and shining light on the frequency where it happens is a positive thing. However, after seeing the status shared by a tonne of women and seeing men being shunned for sharing their experiences, I began to think. Thinking back on my life I can remember 3 separate instances where a woman sexually harassed or assaulted me. Now these events do not trouble me in any way but I know for a fact that many women are sharing the status for far lesser events and this is leaving people with a skewed perception of the problem. The problem is power, not gender. It is not only men who are the perpetrators and women who are the victims. The problem happens when people are in positions of authority or power over the other.

I think that in order to balance out the skewed perspective that this is only a womans issue (as always) we should start a #mentoo campaign to balance out the perspective. I don't like these #trends but it seems like if nothing is done, we only keep sinking lower and lower in terms of understanding and compassion towards men.
