Yes. And many other discriminatory policies also, including banning certain life saving proceedures for men, to save money for important but non-essential proceedures for women.

For example, prostate cancer diagnosis has been D-listed (effectively banned) to save $53,000 per life-year saved. Tragically, in addition to the lost years of life, hundreds of thousands of men every year will be denied knowledge of a 10-15 year death sentence -- which could affect life choices such as having children, spending time with family, working less, or avoiding long term purchases or commitments. All of this to save a few billion dollars, which will be spent on perks for women, such as free birth control and free well woman visits (non of which are available to men).

The reasoning behind the PSA test ban appears reasonable, on the surface. According to the USPSTF ruling "1510 men would have to be tested for each life saved." Treatment for prostate cancer is not very reliable, and the disease spreads slowly enough that many men die of other causes before the onset of symptoms.

However, it is heartless and cruel to deny men diagnosis, in order to save money for treatments (even if the treatments are of questionable utility). Even in Europe, where men are typically not treated for prostate cancer, the men have an opportunity to make basic life choices with the full knoledge of their condition and prospects. Many European men chose to work fewer hours, retire early, re-connect with lost relatives, spend time with children, or just enjoy life. A man can live a lifetime in 10-15 years, if he knows that is all the time he is going to have. The test is very inexpensive ($46 on average, according to the USPSTF), so there is no excuse for the heartless and cruel practice of denying men a diagnosis tool, simply to save money on treatment.

Diagnosis is valuable, even if treatment options are poor!!!

Everything you want is going to be found here. I don't mean to be mean, but I cannot "spoon feed" (I was looking for a nicer term, but I am really tired) you this information, because my internet is slow like a crawl. Everything that I hunt takes 5 minutes, and Obama was careful to hide his wickedness from view. You are going to have to do some investigation on your own. Examine the references that are part of the PDF. That is the "science" that justifies the "medical" decision (it is political, not medical).

Two other points:

1) D listed means that, effectively, the proceedure cannot be covered by insurance. Yes, PSA testing is still possible after symptoms appear. In the case of prostate cancer, after symptoms appear, the man has months to live. By making diagnosis unavailable until after symptoms appear (when it is of no real use), Obamacare effectively prohibits any kind of treatment for prostate cancer. However, in adition to being a sexist bigot, he is also a coward, and does not have the courage to tell men "it is too expensive to treat you, so we are going to let you die." Instead he tells men "it is too expensive to treat you, but I am too much of coward to tell you this, so I am not even going to let you know that youa re sick."

2) The USPSTF is a political organization, subject to oversight by many political offices (such as the seven offices of women's health mentioned in the link that I sent you). I recommend that you read the full text of Obamacare, also linked in my post. Search the document for keywords such as "breast" vs "prostate" and "women" vs "men".

Here's a tale about equality in Denmark, that will hopefully cheer you up.

10 years ago, child custody issues was something I was very vocal about. I wrote to newspapers, I posted internet articles, and I was involved in many debates in online communities. The problem was that the focus was primarily on giving the mother custody - fathers only won custody cases 10% of the time, and the entire system was extremely biased.

Me and a few other Danish MRA's were very vocal about it at the time. But we're not that vocal anymore. Here's why: laws have changed quite a bit in my country since I first became involved with gender politics. Fathers had to literally prove that the mother was a deranged psycho; which was nearly impossible. But in 2007 we had a change in laws and court-practices. Courthouses now focus on shared custody, rather than just handing the child over to the mother by default. This was a huge success! And later laws have improved the situation even more

Still, the system is not perfect yet, because men by law are not obligated to take the same amount of parental leave (Men only have two weeks by law, women have 12), which still skews cases in favor of mothers, and is actually a discrimination by law. But..... Our minister for equality is talking about changing this right now, - so all in all things are looking up for fathers in Denmark. We just have to keep pushing, but I think this will happen as well soon.

The only thing I think we still need to do, is to break the stereotype, and it's a pervasive one, that the father is a worse parent. This is a big issue. But as you can see; we really can change things for the better. The Danish MRA's did, and I was a part of it. We may not be aware that change is happening in our day-to-day battles, but I assure you that they are.

EDIT: Something else... Our current minister for gender equality is a man. That is pretty cool.

Well maybe a little, but not that much. In fact, Denmark has traditionally been one of the flag-bearers of equality. In the 2012 gender gap report we're placed as #7 in the world gender gap list. One of the very first authors to describe a world, where women didn't inhabit their traditional gender roles, was the Dane Ludvig Holberg and many regard him as the first feminist writer in the world. During our golden age of literature in the late 19th century, we had quite a few authors that focused on equality and the role of women.

But in later years I definitely do think, that there has been a lot less focus on equality, and especially less focus on the "feminism" brand of equality. It's almost not talked about at all. Very few mention it, and it almost seems like everyone are tired of the discussion. For example: We had our first female prime minister in 2008, and she NEVER campaigned because of, or even mentioned the fact that she was a woman. Headlines outside of our country all had titles like: "First female prime minister in Denmark!", but in Denmark it was never mentioned, and no one considered it momentous.

When they interviewed people on the street, and asked them if they thought it was significant that we had just elected or first female PM, every single person responded with a no. Everyone seemed to agree that gender was completely irrelevant, and that what mattered here was her ability to govern. Pretty awesome, huh?

So I think equality in Denmark has taken a turn lately, maybe in a direction towards true equality. Because of this, I have begun turning to some women's issues as well, and have begun focusing on them. And of course, I stay around international sites like these. There is still stuff to be done for men in Denmark.
