Who exactly is ambition a turn-off too? I honestly don't know anyone who says 'gee, that person has dreams and goals, what a turn off!!'.

INF because rape shouldn't be a punchline

Should murder? I hardly ever hear a rape joke. Like ever. But I have seen countless jokes in movies and tv shows about a person dying and it's treated like a big gag. Where are the feminists arguing about the terrible 'murder culture' we have? A joke is a joke, and rape is a horrendous crime, but don't try telling me that someone making a rape joke is equal to society as a whole trivializing rape.

I would agree with your assertion, but I don't think it's a 'problem' that feminism can fix. I've worked under several women, especially in retail. Some of my supervisors were very kind and caring and genuinely involved with their employees and wanted to do a good job, yet they could also be tough and assertive when they needed to be. Other female supervisors were very ditzy and child-like and didn't seem to actually have any understanding of how the company or its policies worked. Those in the latter category were the ones who were assumed to have slept their way to the top as they really didn't have any management material. Long story short, if you're going to work as a supervisor or manager, make sure you act the part and people will probably respect you as knowing what you're doing.

People might not agree with me here, but essentially when I hear 'people shouldn't ask what the victim was wearing' I actually hear 'you should immediately believe the accusation and not be skeptical'.

I assume what she means here is I want to be the 'man' in my relationships even though I'm a woman. No one's saying you can't be, that's something you work out with your potential partner. So I don't really see how it's a feminism issue.

Who do you think shames women most for being sluts? A lot of guys I know would love a slut: the girl who will essentially give it up to anyone. And I'm not going to judge a woman if that's what she wants to do. But I would argue that it's mostly women who judge other women based off of their promiscuity. I don't really hear a lot of guys saying 'eww, she's a slut'.

News Flash!! People get judged for how they look. Whether it's your clothes, hair, make-up (or none), piercings, tattoos, cleanliness, people are going to judge you based off of how you appear. No, it's not fair, but it's not a female-exclusive issue. So don't wear make-up if you don't want to, I don't care, but be prepared for people to (unfairly) take note of that.

I agree with this too about how people shouldn't use that qualifier. But the more I'm reading these, the more it's sounding like 'people aren't praising me for everything I do' or 'people are insulting me and that's not fair'.

I didn't like being called an asshole, so I started acting nicer to people. Just a thought: when people insult you, there could be at least a very small grain of truth to what they're saying. So they might not be unreasonable when they throw such words at you.

This sounds more like a 'I want someone to take care of me' rather than a 'I don't like gender stereotypes'. Because if you don't know how to cook, you probably won't survive alone.

Again, I don't want to get into the gender wage gap myth, but as many people have pointed out, if a business could get away with paying a woman less than a man for the exact same work, how would any man be employed?

Explain to me how women are unequal and how men get every single perk in this world. Then convince me that either men's issues or women's issues are more severe or deserving of attention than the other's.

I certainly don't need feminism to stand in the way of having the assumption of shared parenting to be legally enshrined, it certainly doesn't help men seeking protection from sexual abuse and/or domestic violence, it certainly doesn't help men who suffer over 90% of workplace deaths, kill themselves 3x more often than women do, HAVE TO REGISTER FOR SELECTIVE SERVICE, seek to protect their reproductive rights, etc, etc. Feminism cares for women's needs. It views men as the oppressor and women as the oppressed. It is a bigoted and flawed theory from its outset.

I need feminism because more cats need a home. Seriously, some of those girls are just crazy, like the one who wants to wear a dress and be in charge. Why? What happened to equality? Or the one who thinks learning how to cook is oppressive.

You eat every fucking day of your life, if you learn how to cook you will not only save a shitload of money but you will also eat very well. I'm a guy and I've been cooking since high school. It's one of the most important skills I have ever learned in my life and I love it.

This one seems more delusional than most. If you look at research into people's views on who should be taught to cook you'll find that men are least likely to think that boys should be taught to cook. Support from men for teaching cooking to boys was a "mere" 95.3%.

Let’s just run down the list and see what I disagree with:

1 My ambition shouldn’t be a turn-off: Why? You know the weird thing about relationships and dating? There are two people, and the second person has preferences, even if that person isn’t you. Should a man who wants to be a stay at home dad be a turn-off? It depends on who he’s asking. It might be a turn-off to some women, and that is their choice he should just go find someone else to date. If this girl finds that there are guys that are turned-off by her ambition, she obviously should move on to find someone else. That’s how dating works, because literally everything about you is something that someone can find attractive or not, you can’t limit that.

2 Rape shouldn’t be a punchline: What is the problem with jokes? You don’t see many Zionism posters saying “I need Zionism because the Holocaust shouldn’t be a punchline” I get it, bad shit happens, to good people even, you know the great thing about humor? We can take bad stuff and make good out of it. We can make laughter and enjoyment for people, even from such terrible events such as the Holocaust. Look, comedy should be tasteful, don’t tell a rape joke when you know there are people in your audience who have endured that and it’s hard for them, just as you shouldn’t tell a suicide joke when you know someone has had a friend or family member commit suicide. On the other end of that though, don’t go seeking out stuff to be offended by. People do have dark humor, and you should know that. If you won’t like his jokes, don’t go to a Tosh standup, perhaps go to a Jim Gaffigan if that’s more your scene.

4 High ranking successful women shouldn’t be accused of sleeping her way to the top: And how about high ranking successful men shouldn’t be accused of using their male privilege? People say all sorts of stuff to make themselves feel better, whether it is saying their boss is privileged white male, or she slept her way to the top. People in power are going to have resentment; it kind of comes with the gig. (And I’m betting that she would still like to be able to accuse white men of using their privilege to get to the top. Just guessing)

7 I should never feel shame for my sexuality when men don’t have to: What world does this girl live in? Here, let me give you an example. Girl sends naughty pictures to someone she is courting, that is cool, awesome. Brett Farve or Anthony Wiener send pictures of their junk. The resounding response is oh god; no one wants to see that! That’s disgusting! When men find women attractive they are accused of objectifying them. How in the world is male sexuality not considered shameful? People have certainly tried to shame it!

11 Rape culture is unacceptable: Yup. Rape culture is an extreme problem that we still face today. We really should work to reduce the prevalence of rape culture in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and… wait, what? You are talking about rape culture in the United States? Ok, seriously, it doesn’t exist here. To rape someone is considered one of the worst things you can ever do. Child molesters are possibly the only people viewed more harshly by people than rapists. There is no rape culture in the United States.

12 Brain cells don’t exist in the penis: … wat?

13 I want to see more women in power: Go for it! You do realize that in the political realm women have over 50% of the vote. And that is just based on population. When you look at people disenfranchised from the vote (people with felony convictions) male voting population decreases even more. Women are one of the largest voting blocks in the country, so if you want to see something happen, go ahead and do it, no one is stopping you.

16 .77 cents =/= $1: Yes, that is correct. You know math and conversion rates, good job. Oh, did you mean in terms of 19 women deserve equal pay? Because women do get equal pay, and if you had as good of comprehension of the application of statistics as you do of math and conversion rates you should know that. There is no discriminatory wage gap between women and men. Female engineers and male engineers make the same for the hours worked, and female schoolteachers and male schoolteachers make the same for the hours worked. And no, women aren’t trying to be engineers but being discriminated against so they go to their backup job of being a schoolteacher, women and men make different choices to get to where they are. In fact, men make many sacrifices in terms of work hours and types in order to provide for their wives much of the time.
