Women aren't an "oppressed minority", and for two simple reasons: 1. they're not oppressed. 2. they're not a minority.

Women don't face military slavery or mutilation of their genitals when they're newborn babies. It's illegal to discriminate against them in employment and housing. They actually HAVE reproductive rights, and never face being thrown in prison because they can't make court-mandated support payments to their rapists.

Men, on the other hand, ARE routinely denied what are supposed to be fundamental human rights. If that's not "oppression", what is? You seem to think it's "being told that your feelings aren't more important than another person's rights", or even "being told that your being mistreated by a specific person doesn't warrant you mistreated everyone who shares their demographic characteristics".

We lose fundamental rights; you get told that your sexism is unjustified. It's not you who's the victim here.

Your perspective is unique, but not representative of the typical male experience.

You mentioned that now women are less likely to seek an emotional connection with you while men are more likely to do so. This has not been my experience as a man nor does it match anything I have heard from other men. Men typically do not seek out emotional connection with other men. This would at best be perceived as weird and at worst play into homophobic attitudes.

You also stated that women are now more apprehensive around you. This is consistent with my experiences and those of most men, but it does not disprove the notion that males face oppression or biases. Instead, it proves the that there is a negative attitude towards men, one in which women feel it is acceptable to suspect 4 billion men of the worst things based on the actions of a statistical handful of men.

If you consider this reasonable, let us try an experiment: add the word 'black' in front of that assertion. Woul you consider it reasonable for women to distrust black men because a handful of black men have mistreated women? Or would you find such an assertion racist?

You talk about perspective, yet you have zero perspective on issues men face growing up and how it affects our lives down the line, countless of which are brought to light time and time again on this sub. Sorry (not sorry) to disappoint, but men will no longer be gaslighted with the talk "women are oppressed" in today's western society, when the stark opposite is the reality we can all see with our own eyes on a daily basis.

Are you serious? Yes, men ARE an oppressed minority and we are oppressed by women. Women vote for anti-male politicians and we suffer as a result. Just because YOU haven't actually faced anything yourself doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. And here are just a few examples that happen in a large number of countries:

Men are required to serve in the military whereas women are not

Violence, SA and Sexual Harrassment towards men isn't taken seriously at all and male victims often get little to no resources and often get silenced for speaking out

Women are straight up allowed to hit men

Nonconsensual circumcision is legal everywhere yet FGM is banned in most countries in the worrld

There are often programs to get more women into male dominated fields whereas female dominate fields usually don't have to accept men at all

Men often receive a lot less access to social support despite often being in worse socio-economical conditions

The general perception of men having to be the providers and protectors and always be expected to take care of anything without relying on any help

and the fact that we get attacked and silenced when we try to advocate for our rights. Women oppress men, not the other way around. You just choose to ignore everything that men face. If women want to stop the conflict between genders thay have to stop being feminists and stop oppressing us.

I would never say western men are "oppressed". That word implies true suffering, which is why western women are so silly for using it. They are not oppressed either.

Both women and men in the west have struggles, some shared, some distinct. Some they are subjected to by the other gender and some they are not. But neither of these groups is oppressed.

Admittedly, 50+ years ago women in the west were oppressed (but even then it was mild compared to other places in the world).

Right now, I'd go so far as to say women are privileged in more ways than men (unless those men are extremely wealthy).

You downplay how anxious women are around men these days, but that's your ignorance. It's no small thing that we are so often considered vile by society at large, even though it's a minority of men doing the vile things.

This is false. There's two demographics of women. Women who have callous views on heterosexual relationships. And women who are and have always been enthusiastic about having relationships with men. The callous women view men as a physical threat to their lives, while the enthusiastic women enjoy having men in their lives.

The demographic of women you're talking about, are the callous women. the enthusiastic women don't feel apprehensive and/or oppressed by men.

No. Our reaction is to avoid her and interact with the women are not upset. As the women who are upset usually don't want a man around anyway.
