I hereby deem this fiasco: Donglegate

It is about 4:30 AM central time. I have been following this thing like a soap opera. Yes, I am aware of my lack of life.

It's interesting because there have been almost no responses from Ms. Richards or the person fired (allegedly) since this whole thing went viral.

Much of this is speculative at this point, but here is what I have read and compiled so far: Apparently, there seems to be some question as to who was fired and if he was actually fired. The guy in the picture she took who was actually looking at the camera, was apparently NOT fired from his job, and not involved int he incident (although it was assumed by many that he was). Apparently, it was likely to be the guy on the left in the picture who made the joke about a dongle. Still waiting on details as to what actually happened with the firing, as no one really knows who the guy is that said he was fired, and if his post was legitimate.

Since all of this started getting big, 4chan has been going absolutely bananas. Like #coocooforcocoapuffs, foaming at the mouth, bonkers. They have 404ed several threads, and they have every possible detail about this woman's life doxxed for all to see. Along with her possible relatives, her company, customers of her company, the company of her victim (the guy who was allegedly fired over the incident), and the restaurant below her apartment. Several subreddits have threads on the issue, but all seem to be going on the same information.

Obviously, Ms. Richards entire twitter history has been combed through and it appears, as suspected, that she spews a very similar brand of vitriol we see on reddit's own /r/shitredditsays. Saying things like being a white male is living life on the lowest difficulty setting, calling out "White Male Privilege", and making jokes about guys stuffing socks into their pants so the TSA thinks they have big dicks (Yes she actually said this, then wen't on to feign victimhood in this whole donglegate fiasco.)

I guess it's always interesting to see radicals, walking around in a constant sense of victimhood, bloom in real life situations, I guess this is why I am so intrigued by this.

Anyway, more to come. This is the biggest story of the entire fucking year. Not really, but I'm bored as fuck and I'm out of wine.

I could see them make a case that this has nothing to do with technology, but when radical feminist trolls are masquerading around tech conferences, eavesdropping on conversations, publishing the results, and getting people fired.....I'd say that's something I would want people in the industry to know about.

Or they could have deleted it because there is already a large thread on it.

All kidding aside, if a man even ATTEMPTED to do this to a pair of women joking about taking advantage of men, he'd be vilified. But the owner of a vagina does it to two men? A-OKAY!

This whole situation feels like a big joke, it's really strange to think that by the complaints of a single person could result in this kind of action being taken, usually this would only happen with a large outcry of people. Surely there's something else behind the terminating of these guys, unfortunately we may never find out what really happened there.

I really don't see this as being about technology. The people involved happen to work in the technology industry, but that's an incidental detail. People are saying things like "boycott SendGrid" but no one's saying "boycott the technology industry" or "this shows that the technology industry has serious problems to address"; that would be absurd.

Either way, instead of speculating, why not ask the mods of /r/technology why they removed the posts?

Its not them being misandrist, its the fact that it is not relevant to technology.

Edit: I am talking about the mods from r/technology, not the idiots at the conference.
