Although I don't like the idea of quotas and it's probably a bad idea, I would at the very least want any such laws to be equitable. For example, if you are going to do a 40% minimum, there should be a 60% maximum.

bill introduced last June would address disparities by requiring the boards of publicly traded firms to have at least 40 per cent representation of each gender.

I don't agree with this as I think it stops qualified people from getting jobs due to quotas but at least it's not as bad as it is in England right now where they're allowing employers to discriminate against Men but not Women.

I would also like to mention that this bill was introduced through the Canadian Senate so it most likely won't become law in its current state if at all.

Even if there is some benefit in the board's makeup matching the company's customers, the article still misses the point that users are not Facebook's customers.
