Mommy and daddy pick up the tab.
Try being ugly or disfigured for a day. Then complain about being too pretty.
[–]WhiteThrone5 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Just wait. A woman's attractive-ness wanes with time ... by the time she's in her early forties, she will be an old hag. And thanks to her own doing, she will have minimal work experience, too.
[–]bigkax8 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
And will earn less than a man that had to work all that time and will complain that it is sexism.
[–]Pecanpig2 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
But then (unfortunately) she will just leech off of social services.
[–]Arby011 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
If daddums and mummy can post all living expenses + a $2300/month clothing allowance, I doubt social services is at risk.
[–]Pecanpig0 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
For now anyways.
[–]MockingDead1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
It will be much worse because of her plastic surgery.
[–]doomsought0 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
She already looks pretty ugly to me.

Fernee has a PhD in science and started in the workforce in 2008
... a PhD in "science"? Like, just science in general?
Never heard of anyone getting a PhD in "Science", unless it was from one of the many reputable unaccredited online scholastic institutions now sprouting up all over...
Edit: The Daily Mail article says that she studied medical science, so I guess that narrows it down to at least a field. Having a helluva time trying to find her doctoral thesis or even her alma mater. Odd for someone who supposedly did a bunch of post-doctoral work to not have a name attached to any paper anywhere that I can find.
[–][deleted]6 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I think you're on the right track. If you do a search for her name and filter out terms like pretty, attractive, etc, and limit the date range to before this article... you get nothing. No trace of her. Which doesn't prove anything of course, but this story smells like a first-class troll-job.
Also, of course, she's writing a book, so this is probably all just the advance publicity for it.
[–]SRSLovesGawker3 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Yeah, google was packed full of "too pretty" or "too attractive". Sub out those phrases and all that was left was a handful of unrelated links, most of them in hindi or arabic (and probably has "too pretty" in their respective languages!)
I'd love to see what her dissertation is on. If anyone has access to archives from London / Bristol medical schools from between 2007-2010 and can check on her name, it'd be much appreciated.

Well , she's reasonably good looking I guess but hardly enough to make me drop to my knees and thank god that I'm a man.
In any case , it's pretty obvious that this girl comes from money and has no idea what real work is. I mean , if her family can afford to throw $2300 a month at her just because she chose to stop working and needs designer clothing then it's clear she's a princess more than an honest scientist.
The other thing is that it's not entirely believable anyway. What constitutes "all the time" ? Four times ? Five times ? Every single day since she managed to land a job ? At what point does she turn to her boss and say "Hey , tell them to back off." ? Come to think of it , do men still do that sort of thing ? You know , buy a girl random gifts , send her flowers "just because" etc. I don't know where she worked or anything but it seems really strange that any of this would go on in a modern workplace. I can believe that a few guys would have made the attempt over the years (all five of them assuming she got a job straight out of school) but how many guys are we talking about here ? How big is her company ? Aren't any of them married ? Am I to actually believe that they all did it on a daily basis ?
Something ain't right with her story but who knows...stranger things have happened.
To be honest , I'm not even sure why this is in MR other than to highlight that some women can be entitled little princesses. Is that a secret now ? Men can be that way too. Granted , a man wouldn't want anybody to know he's a leech but they're still out there.

Ahh the post-wall self delusion turned up to 11.
[–]WhiteThrone2 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
She has a "PhD" in "science ... I wonder, if that post-graduate slot had gone to a male, would that male still be working. She's 'started in the workforce in 2008' and quit in '2011' ...
Shouldn't we, as a society, be spending our time educating people (like males) who will actually provide a return on the investment ? It takes a lot to educate a person to "PhD" status ... and this person dropped out of the workforce a mere 3 years after she entered ... would a male with the same credentials do that ? or would he be still working and providing the benefits of his skills to the rest of society ?
[–]phukka2 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
She spent substantially more time earning her (obviously bogus) degree than she did actually working. That should say something. I doubt she ever intended to be a career woman, and now she can safely use 'men' as a scapegoat, like every other feminist does.
[–]redditsuckass0 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
And her Science PhD will render her immune to criticism! Win win for her.

Want to see what a histrionic personality disorder looks like? This is it.
[–]AnnArchist2 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Because she's not working, Fernee's parents are covering her expenses including rent, gym membership and more than $2,300 a month in designer clothes.
Must be tough.
[–]beema1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Plastic surgery - problem solved. Try getting ahead and being ugly, that is not easy.
[–]AceyJuan0 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
What a joke. She's semi-cute. If she had problems with men "constantly" asking her out, the problem is the signals she sent. 100% her fault, you need to learn to communicate.
On the other hand, it's more likely that she was asked out once and freaked out. Over-sensitivity syndrome.
If she really thinks she's "too cute for work" she can try finding some sugar daddies. If she can pull that off, maybe she's right.
[–]Levanon6 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
So, let me get this straight...
-She's not "hot enough" for men to harass her on their own, therefor any harassment she received was her own fault.
-Because of the above, her lived experiences are obviously wrong. What a liar!
-STUPID FEMALE JUST WANTS TO LEECH OFF MEN'S HARD WORK AMIRITE?!
Is that an accurate summation of your post?
[–][deleted]1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
FEMINAZI TROLL ALERT WOOP WOOP WOOP. User posts anti men propaganda.
I'm in your subreddit, oppressing the menz!
[–][deleted]-1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
NOT MY INTERNETZ! NOOOOOOOO. J/k its k boxy.
[–]Levanon5 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
So, are you going to correct my obviously-man-hating assertions, or just scream ad hominem attacks in an attempt to rally the ranks?
I don't want to argue for or against stupid as I am also stupid but I will say that women belong in the kitchen but mine ends up putting me in there more. She's sneaky with controlling my joy stick :( . That bastard is always out to get me.
[–]Levanon4 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Ouch. Sounds like Suitor Abuse.
Yeah she's really got me on a chain. That's why I read men's rights so they can empower me to stand against her and my penis.

[–]AceyJuan1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Alright troll, have a cookie.
She's not "hot enough" for men to harass her on their own, therefor any harassment she received was her own fault.
Yes, you read that right. There's a whole world of nonverbal communication, and some people send all the wrong signals. It's not that she's bad, she just needs to learn what she's doing wrong.
Or, let me phrase it another way. If 10 people spontaneously ask if you're alright, if you need any help, what do you think? Are those 10 people all morons, or maybe you look like you could use some help? You're clearly sending a signal that you're in distress. People also signal that they're looking for a date.
Because of the above, her lived experiences are obviously wrong. What a liar!
Liar? Not sure what you mean there. Her story presumably reflects her experiences through her perception. Some people are way too sensitive. I haven't met her, but I'd say it's likely that she's over-sensitive.
STUPID FEMALE JUST WANTS TO LEECH OFF MEN'S HARD WORK AMIRITE?!
She said she was too cute for work. That doesn't leave many options. What do you suggest she does to "earn a living" without working?
[–]preggomommy-1 point 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Someone lied to her...
[–]drgfromoregon8 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
wow, you're so mature.
[–]CrossHook-5 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
She's a 7 at best and has had plastic surgery.
[–]preggomommy4 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Exactly... not "too pretty to work"
[–]SRSLovesGawker4 points 13 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I dunno. She's not bad. Considering she's in STEM she's probably a lot better looking than any of the competition she had to face during those post-doctorate years.
Is she pretty enough to make some isolated science guys do goofy shit? I could buy that... but in terms of the world at large, IMO she's pretty but not stunningly gorgeous.
Question: How did she get through college if she couldn't handle getting hit on at work?
College is filled with frat boys.
Excellent question.
Iunno... all woman's medical school? Who knows what kind of wacky stuff they have in England. ;)
I'd have totally gone woman seeking at an all women's medical school. Girls in all girl schools are thirsty.
