I'd get a better chair, recliner maybe, and a table for food. I like that it's all carpet so you could just set a Roomba for all the cleaning. I'd also raise the TV and get a dog. That would be lit.

There's what's known as a "marriage premium" where everything else being equal married men make more than single men. The feminist explanation is that the man's wife is freeing him for paid work by doing housework he'd otherwise have to do. The non-feminist explanation is that a wife requires a bigger house with more stuff, which creates a burden on whoever has to work to pay for it and also creates housework that didn't exist before.

It's the TV that makes this scene look unrespectable to her. Put in a yoga mat and scented candles and it could be a magazine illustration of the minimalist decluttered carbon friendly feng shui zen lifestyle.

All of this minimalism - the TV and chips version and the scented candles version - is incompatible with having children, who'll clutter up any space with their paraphernalia. Also it's rare to find a person with a minimalist home (or loft, or pied a terre, or crib, or communal living bunk bed, or whatever) who lives minimalism 24-7 like a monk, or would be happy about it. It tends to go with an urban lifestyle where the need for novelty and variety and coziness is taken care of outside the home - dining out, impromptu vacations, the kind of work travel where you just happen to get booked into a nice boutique hotel, etc.
