Can we talk about how “misandry” and “misogyny” have basically turned into the ketchup and mayo of online arguments? People just squirt them onto any disagreement about gender like it instantly makes their point valid. Someone says they don’t want to date short men? Misandry. Someone says they prefer a guy with a job? Misandry. On the flip side, a guy says he likes women with long hair? Misogyny. Someone says “I’m not into dating men older than me”? Misogyny.

It’s not that actual misogyny and misandry don’t exist, they absolutely do, and they can be serious. But when every mildly biased opinion, preference, or awkward comment gets labelled as the worst form of gender hatred, the words lose their punch. Instead of actually talking about the systemic stuff that matters, we just end up arguing over whether Becky from Tinder hating anime is proof of “male oppression.” If everything is misandry or misogyny, then nothing is, and we all just stay mad for sport.
