Ah that sucks :( I always loved how honest she was in that. She experienced how fucking shite it is as a man and actually changed her opinions as a result. Staying that she felt "being a woman is a privilege".

I even now use that as a big reference when someone tries to say being a man is so easy. She provided a great service with that documentary. That's awful that she must have had so many terrible personal issues going on :(

I was just talking about her the other day when somebody claimed that men don't understand how hard it is to be a woman and how privileged men are. Yeah, in some ways it might be true, in some other ways not. But she really did a favor to all men in the end.

she really did experience and feel the same way we have for years. that was one tough woman, look reality right in the eye and lived to tell the tale. just sad that it left her feeling awful.

I feel a big part of feminism going off the rails is that they’re seeing just how unhappy they are when they’re expected to work and provide. When you’re no longer privileged based on Birthright.

Men are now evaluating women on what they can bring to the table. If all you bring is another mouth to feed (and perhaps another kid as a single mother), you’re income isn’t comparable, you’re future potential income isn’t attractive, and you’re not emotionally intelligent (I think women use to get a pass for being crazy), you’re going to get passed around for what you can provide (sex), but get a hard pass on commitments. And it’s a tall bar to overcome even more because they bring with them inherent risks from a divorce.

So effectively, they’ve given away for free the leverage they use to have (sex) in favor of the opportunity to be a working stiff like all men. It’s a shitty deal and they’re blaming men though that’s the shit their sisters sold them.

Modern women would all commit suicide if they had to live life as a lonely 5'1 Indian guy slaving away at some janitor job. Truth is vast majorities of men are not seen as human because they are neither genetically blessed with good looks/heights nor are wealthy enough to be exploited.

So this leads to a perpetual cycle of women thinking all men live on easy "Patriarchy" mode like rich and good looking Hollywood celebrities or what not because they do not care to notice the majority of men struggling at the bottom.

Noooo! She was so cool and smart! I didnt know she was that old. But she was one of the little number of women that could've helped us. Now she's gone. She really inspired me. We should carry on her legacy.

I believe she committed suicide because what she discovered while posing as a man haunted her for the rest of her life. She saw that being a man, by birth or by choice, in this society can easily be a reason to commit suicide, due to the horrible societal condition of men and boys.

Imagine having to live a lifetime in a society that treats men as this one does, when 18 months of it were enough for Norah Vincent to be driven to end it all. It is hard to imagine a more profound statement about this society than her life and death.
