You should be wary of people in general because people think, period. Everyone has their own interests at stake in life. Women need to think this way because they live in a world where men are also people and do not have women's interests at heart much of the time.

That's like saying that location is the most important thing in real estate. I mean on one hand yeah it is really really important maybe even the most important factor but I'm still not buying a cracking, falling down, mold-filled, noisy, smelly, piece of shit condo with a notoriously toxic HO organisation involved no matter where it is. And I'll probably be tempted by the most perfect sweetest little cottage on an acre an extra hour's drive from where I want to be.

To say looks are overwhelmingly the most important factor instead of just the most important factor is going too far. The overwhelmingly most important factor FOR YOU is always going to be the one that happens to present the biggest challenge TO YOU personally that you are actually willing to admit is challenging you. But for a lot of people that isn't looks. It is lack of desire to deal with other people, lack of social skills, living somewhere remote, having no willingness to expend effort, having no understanding of the local social scenes and where to meet particular sorts of people, etc. People have different overwhelmingly most important factors they are dealing with.

What is happening for most men who think looks are the be all and end all is they've already totally ruled out and put completely from their minds certain things that make them insanely uncomfortable such as leaving the house more and talking face to face with strangers and taking time away from their hobbies of gaming and wanking, and this leaves... online dating with hopes that she won't want to talk she'll just want to bone. In which looks are indeed a very big juicy worm to bait the hook with. Money is too, so is "cool" but oddly enough ask those guys about these things too and they yell "got reasons" and then go quiet.

It is wrong to confuse one's own situation brought about by one's own limitations and flaws with the general situation which is also peopled by those who maybe have fewer or different limitations. I know it is hard to go back and admit to maybe a little cowardice in the decisions that led up to facing down the personal need to have instagram level looks to get laid, but doing so is the only honest and non solipsistic approach to the matter. Everything you have ever done has led you to this place where you feel lack of looks is your tragedy. But your real tragedy is you let yourself be led by fate.

I think that lack of courage and lack of social skills are such huge factors overall that one really should not apply "overwhelmingly" to looks as a factor.

Me: if you genuinely think that all men and misogynistic, then surely the optimum strategy is to just stay single and have several sex partners, then just focus on yourself and maybe get a baby through IVF at some point? Looks are not the overwhelming factor, nor are they the most important one.

The misconception comes from this: You need to be attracted to someone in order to have a romantic relationship with them.

The looks factor is NOT the most important factor, it is a unique one.

Because if someone isn't attracted to you, how can they become interested romantically? Ask yourself honestly? Is it their fault? People can't really control what they like. They can sort of influence it, but if you're not physically attractive to them... There isn't much you can do in some cases. Unless it's your weight or how you dress.

Also, personality can make you more attractive to girls. So if they're on the edge, "oh this guy isn't the cutest, but he's so nice and funny..." you can maybe change their mind!

Confidence itself is huge too. Im very overweight. But I made self deprecating jokes, and stayed positive about it. And people just accepted it. That's how I got my girl to like me after all. We were in the same friend group at first, but she started to like me. Not because I was handsome, although she tells me I am. But because she liked me for me.
