We forget how women being able to work affected them negatively, and inversely, how men benefitted.

When women needed to rely on men for support, the only alternative was for her family to support her. That made it much harder for a man to sleep with a woman without intent to commit to her, or any potential children, of which there would likely be as contraceptives weren't widely available the majority of that time. This meant that women had more options if a man just wanted to use her, like having her family, who had an interest in marrying her off, stage a shotgun wedding.

When the change happened women didn't just gain the ability to support themselves, it meant their families didn't have to. That effectively absolved men of any consequences for however they wanted to treat women in the future.

Let me preface this next part by saying that it's common knowledge that whole point of attraction is creating offspring. That means to women, the willingness to stick around and help raise the children the most important trait a man can have. Because what good is an alpha that isn't around? And how can a women know that a man isn't just interested in sex? Especially when they all know that they can lie and face no consequences? Ask him??? No, you have to sleep with him. There's no other way to know for sure if sex is all he's interested in. This creates the appearance of hypergamy, but is really our same old biology in a new environment we're not used to.

Logically, if thinking in terms of what will make a good father, it's then easy to figure out what women want. First and foremost, men have to realize that he's the only example women see when imagining what kind of children she'd have with him. Second, he has to demonstrate that he prioritizes more than just sex. But most importantly, demonstrate a willingness to contribute to a supportive environment for any children.

But like I was saying earlier, men don't have any consequences for sleeping with women and leaving them. And since it's easy to appear as all of the above long enough for a man to get what he wants, as they often do, women end up with a high N count.
