I remarked to a redpiller yesterday that TRP reminds me of going into one of those gun forums where everyone's justifying kitting out sniper rifles with extended magazines and tacticlol night vision goggles for "home defence"

On another forum I visit there was once a "low carb dieting!" Megathread where the mods banned dissent as "trolling" - it ended with one guy eating so much lard he had to be proscribed heart medicine at 22.

Basically, insular forums make people weird.

I don't think all PUAs are misogynists, so there's that. I think for the socially immature, there can be some useful advice gleaned from that. Like, about confidence, specifically. Hell, I have had to do the "fake it till you make it" thing before because I suffer from social anxiety and I am incredibly introverted and I want to be social!

The problem arises when men who in particular have had problems with women, are taught that we women are this different species and basically that advice dehumanizes us, makes it much easier for the man (who, like I said, already has had problems with women) to be misogynists. They are taught and seek out a specific type of woman and well confirmation bias being how it works and all...

Post Masculine/Mark Manson is one of the few sources for men's self improvement I've seen that isn't loaded with livid hatred and contempt for women, though I do believe for that reason he no longer identifies as a pick up artist? Correct me if I'm wrong. Like a lot of red pill he's skeptical of feminism but doesn't denounce it as a movement to manipulate men into subsidizing the lives of women to the detriment of mankind, and holds a vastly more positive view of male female relations than trp.

His articles catch a lot of flak from red pill types in the comments section, asserting that he's got it all wrong and there's no way a beta loser like him actually gets any pussy, which just makes his articles extra fantastic if you ask me.

I kinda disdain anyone who'll call himself a "pickup artist". Learning social skills which will make people more receptive to interactions with you is one thing.

Bagging as many chicks as possible so you can brag to your friends about what a pickup artist you are (or to sell pickup artist shit) is lame. Women are people, not animals to be hunted for sport. I get the impression from a lot of the well-known PUA that they don't like women-- not in a "they'd rather have dick" way, but rather they have no interest in them outside of being potential penis cozies, which I'd argue is pretty misogynistic.

On a personal level, even before I knew what "game" and "kino" and "negging" and "push-pull" were, I hated that shit. It always came across as terribly disingenuous, and was a big turnoff. It's like "oh, okay, you don't think highly enough of me to engage me on a person-to-person intellectual level? No thx guy".

Maybe because it's easier to categorize all women as X in order to justify easy-to-implement, sleazy, manipulative behavior rather than to improve one's self to make them more attractive as a person.

I'm not snarking. One could approach finding a mate or mates as a matter of using a numbers game (hence Game) to manipulate them into liking you, or you could work on improving yourself and being likeable. The latter is not only more difficult to do, it's infinitely more difficult to admit it should be done.
