Ive had a weird amount of guys on dating apps be extremely hesistant to ask me on a date, even after having a nice and genuine conversation. I always chalk it up to them just not being into me enough to actually ask but maybe its something else.

It's not like there aren't plenty of men who don't have issues doing these things. And I say that as someone who prefers to initiate.

The one that always raises my eyebrows is "planning" the date. Picking a place to eat and perhaps an activity isn't much in the way of planning. Have you never made plans with friends? FFS, have you invited folks over to watch a game? Or planned and cooked an actual dinner party? I was doing this stuff in my tweens. Paying I think is a reasonable gripe (though considering the disproportionate benefits men get from female partners, one could argue that it's pretty minor). But you can't really talk about paying in a serious way without acknowledging the underlying dynamics of power and obligation.

But socialization is on the decline, and there are a lot of borderline feral guys out there. Mostly not in the interesting and possibly sexy way.
