Saying this is crazy and you hear from both sides and as a guy who always had a healthy amount of both male and female friends I feel like a lot of the female friends really don't try to introspect on why they say this

I don't think a lot of girls realize that a lot of guys emotions are a turn-off for them even when the guy's emotions can range from neutral and especially a parent when most girls do the exact same type of thing

All my first crushes and girlfriends would do the same thing the first chance they met me which was basically info dump all their backstory and stuff which I was completely fine with and I honestly kind of expected especially when you're young.

The same expectation for why men aren't expected to emote is the exact same reason why so many girls seem to think that men are love bombing or giving them too much emotions is because both society and women find it to be unmasculine when a guy does this

I had an ex-girlfriend tried to pull this on me when she needed my emotional support and I was there for her but the moment I needed some support she tried to call me every emasculating term Under the Sun and I called her out for her hypocrisy

Whenever you are going through a crisis it's completely okay for you to vent and to be emotional but the moment I do it I'm somehow less than a man
