Supposedly people didn't used to eat with forks. Something about forks being sinister like poking flesh is a devil thing. But then I guess the italians started a trend to eat with forks when pasta came in from china because I guess chopsticks were too difficult for italians and left hand is for the devil's work. Or at least some drunk colleague told me this once at an after work party so dunno.

If you're right-handed it makes sense to use the right hand to cut with because it's your dominant hand. Your left hand is just holding the fork stable, your right (dominant) hand is moving the knife. idk about you but me trying to use a knife with my non-dominant hand would probably result in an injury.

But I always put the knife down when I'm done cutting and then switch the fork to my right hand to eat.

From what I heard, we use dominant hand to perform precise operations, while we use non-dominant hand to do crude things. Cutting something is something that requires precision and technique, while holding something in place with a fork is rather simple. You open a jar with your non dominant hand.
