Like it wouldn't bother me if someone didn't invite me, or uninvited me from something like this.

However, it's pretty revealing of an "us vs them" mindset which would be pretty disconcerting for a group that should be trying to find ways to work together.

The constituents of non-white politicians face unique challenges that sometimes do not affect white people. Minority voters often cannot be single issue voters because political policies affect them in ways that make that impossible. Putting non-white politicians from multiple levels of government make it possible for the voices of non-white voters to be heard higher up the chain of command. It means the focus will be on networking among each other and building bridges across government that might benefit the concerns of the minority voters who put them in office or who rely on them to speak up about their issues. It's not just "omg you are racist bc you're not including whites" it's more like "this is progressive because it's an opportunity to put the needs of non-white voters and politicians in focus."

Ironically there's a lot of "black and white thinking" coming from so many of you all condemning cross cultural connection without thinking about what the possible benefits to minorities working together could be and how that could actually be a net positive for progress for an often neglected set of officials and voters. Especially in Boston.

Imagine the outcry if the invite had been the other way around. There would be all kinds of demands for her resignation. If she’s hosting a private party, she can invite whom she so chooses, but if she’s using public funds, that would be illegal I’d think.
