I'm sexist; I think it's ok to use violence against women when they initiate it. Proportionally. In this case, that would be pushing her back hard enough to let her know no shit will be allowed. I'd respond with more violence against a man because most men are better with violence, and could do more damage. On the other hand, if a woman is pretty violent towards me, then it's time she learned a lesson.

The whole thing about not hitting women who hit - not for me. Doing nothing teaches them they can get away with it. They shouldn't get away with it.

But, really, this looked a lot more violent than it was. And, likely, she'd refused to learn earlier lessons, given that the main one our culture teaches them is that they should receive no repercussions.

we do not know what happened prior, in all likely-hood she laid hands on him prior and then he had enough when she touched him after being warned and smashed her with the plastic can. I am sure she tried to get in his grill again, her getting back up quickly and she might have gotten slapped down as a result.
