I mean I thought you were taking the piss so I responded with an equally circle jerky response.

Also there are only three countries that still use imperial and all of them offer paid vacation. I don't know if you meant "mandatory paid vacation" which generally doesn't exist for minimum wage jobs anywhere (I actually had an unskilled job where after 1 year of work you'd earn 10-15 days a year vacation). Or that the amount of paid vacation in the US has to be negotiated and generally lags behind the amount offered elsewhere in the world, which is accurate.

As for the orbiter statement, it never crashed into the planet. Granted the lack of communication as to which units they were using for distance caused it to dip lower into the atmosphere than intended but that would have been a rectifiable problem had the thrusters not overheated and shutdown midburn. Since the thrusters failed the spacecraft didn't finish slowing down and continued on past mars into the void of space.

It's called de-escalation.

The woman tries to inform him that she needs to take a shit, and she's got a medical issue. But he immediately cuts her off, and does so repeatedly. He does not try to communicate, he just barks orders.

Here's how he should have handled it.

Officer: "M'am, I pulled you over because you were speeding, can I -"

Old lady "eeerrr I need to piss bad and I have a bladder infection and blah blah blah"

officer nods and waits patiently while she yammers on about her vagina

Officer: "I'm sorry to hear that, m'am, if you hand me your license and registration I'll make this as quick as possible."

What did he really accomplish here? Thousands of dollars will be spent taking this woman through the system. Because two rude people collided with each other.

I hope she pissed all over his backseat.

I don't know if you know this... but the EU isn't a country. But we can disregard that for a moment. In the UK for example, it is against the Road Traffic Act of 1988 to refuse to give license and registration for the vehicle if you are stopped by the police. If you fail to do so, and especially if you refuse the repeated request of a lawful order, you can be taken into custody or given a ticket, where they will make you properly produce driving documentation (You have 28 days to produce this).

Obviously it is up to the police officer's discretion, but if the passenger is angrily refusing lawful orders, what do they expect?

I haven't done so yet, but I bet I can find similar laws for other countries in the EU as well.

By that I meant the countries that are EU members, one of which I am a citizen of. I say this because the EU has a general principle called the right to dignity, which would likely include the right to be treated with more dignity by a police officer than the woman in this video was. I'm specifically talking about his choice to simply yell "License and registration" again and escalating the situation with a distressed person, then pulling them out of the car. I'm not a legal expert on police interaction in the EU, but my experiences with the police in EU countries and general familiarity with the right to dignity would support this.

I'm positive that every country requires you to produce an ID when driving and that refusal to do so is grounds for arrest, but I don't think that the way the officer went about it would be kosher under EU laws. Which isn't a problem because police in the EU don't act like this.

So to reiterate, there are no laws prohibiting what this cop did. He used reasonable force when someone refused (multiple times) a lawful order. I am not agreeing with the cop's actions necessarily, but it is clear that this woman was not listening and thinking that she was in control.

You live in a country where a woman is allowed to give a police officer shit for making her kids late for school? That is crazy to me and so backwards. A woman shouldn't be allowed to speed or do other illegal driving moves and be able to blame the cop for "making her late for school." In that case, she would be making her own kids late for school. What kind of world would we live in where the general public, who is currently committing the crime, gets to decide if what they did was right or wrong.

I would argue it is naive to think that this never happens in your country. Of course a majority of police interactions in the USA happen with no problems, but then you watch this one and falsely assume it happens during every interaction. What country are you from? I will find some great examples of police abuse for you to enjoy.

Eh, I won't go into specifics about my story, but the reasons for her getting pulled over were weak. The point was that the word of a cop isn't treated as a requirement for immediate 100% compliance under threat of physical arrest. Certainly you have to follow the laws, including handing over required ID, but the human element is more respected in my experience. It's not just "oh, they refused my order, now I can drag them out of the car." It's more "ok how do I get this person to cooperate without resorting to physical force?" I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that I personally prefer the latter.

If I made it sound like I painted all US cops with this brush, I apologize. It was only to the extent that the rest of the people in the thread considered the cop's behavior good. I live in the states, so I know that you are right and most police wouldn't behave like this. But since we're seeing it here as an example of denying a pussy pass, rather than an example of police misconduct, I'll say that it's more accepted here.

Is there some different video that you watched where they showed the reasoning behind her being pulled over? It is a 1 minute video and they don't show you what happened before hand. She could have done a number of illegal things (or not, who knows), so to argue that "the reasons for her getting pulled over were weak" is pretty weak in itself. The point is that you are supposed to listen to lawful orders from the police. If you don't, expect them to make you comply one way or another. This happens in every single country in the world, including your home country.

If you can't even say what country you are from, but want to pretend that your country is on some high horse, then we are done talking. I 100% guarantee that there are examples from your home country of police abuse and you are extremely naive to think otherwise. But since you don't want to share any more information, good day.

I'm not inclined to agree with the police, but I have to say that in this case, I felt the woman could have been a bit more cooperative. They know that if they'll pull the 'i'm an old lady'-card, they'll get away with things.

Only a few months ago, I was standing in line at the checkout lane of the local supermarket. Suddenly, this old lady steps in front of me, without even looking back. I tap her on the shoulder, she turns her head and I go 'excuse me, could you go wait at the back of the line like everybody else?'. She refused, claiming that she had been standing in line in front of me, but forgot picking up this thing she needed. I say 'no, go stand in back'. She then starts to make a scene, shrieking that 'we should have more respect for our elders' or some shit.

I really felt like grabbing her by the arm and dragging her to the back myself at that time. But, you know, you can't, because then you would have been accused for violating an old, frail lady.

These bitches know you can't touch them without repercussions, and they exploit the shit out of it.
