My Current Status in this Scene

Glad to see you back. With the number of bloops and mental masturbators who have flooded into this place since the COVID boom, it's good to see someone around who knows their stuff and at least has the capacity to add value to the conversations here - something I really need to get back to, as I've spent too much time on the discord and neglected this sub lately.

I no longer run anything concerning these groups but I do have men in my life that I have my own independent group with ... I just enjoy mentoring and seeing others succeed.

Right. This is what we call discipleship. And what you're doing reminds me of a conversation that /u/r_horizon shared with me that one of my "heroes" - Dawson Trotman - had with a guy he was discipling. Dawson asked the guy what his long-term plans were for his life. The guy answered:

Billy: Gee, Daws, I think I want to be a pastor. There's such a need for good pastors these days.
Daws: Say, that's a great idea Billy. I bet you'd be a fine pastor.
Billy: Me too. Thanks for the encouragement.
Daws: Any time. But you know, Billy - I have a thought. What if you discipled a guy to become a pastor. Then you'd have a pastor to do your pastoring for you and you could still do whatever you want.
Billy: Hey, that's not a bad idea! I suppose if I could do something else, there's really a need for missionaries in China. I could go do that!
Daws: Wow. What a great idea, Billy. But what if you discipled a guy and sent him to China? Then you'd have a pastor here and a missionary there and you could do whatever you want. What would you do then?
Billy: I suppose I might start up a soup kitchen or serve the homeless in some way.
Daws: Now I bet you can guess what I'll say is the best way you can multiply your efforts to reach the homeless, right? And not only the homeless, but the people who need pastors and the countries that need missionaries, or whatever else the Kingdom might need.

Too many people are content to be a single cog in the machine. Yeah, those cogs are necessary. But there is no lack of cogs. There is a much greater lack in mechanics who know how to put the cogs where they need to go. Even greater is the number of people who don't realize that our miraculous God can turn a metal cog into a human mechanic.

My memory verse for the week: "For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food" (Hebrews 5:12). Everyone is meant to be moving forward from cog to teacher.

Yeah, there are some on this thread who will expect you to earn that role with current involvement rather than relying on past rapport - and you can even count me among them. But if I remember you well enough and your "re-joining" the manosphere brings with it consistency of involvement, I don't expect you'll fail to do just that.

Good to see you back.

I started a group years ago much like a small group study. We watched a video in the church and discussed the questions. Guys lost interest and stopped coming.

I have much more success building relationships and having discipleship conversations now that I pivoted and do stuff with the guys. Maybe it’s range time, hike up the mountain, pitch in on a home improvement project or lift. Men form a tribe and trust when the work, struggle, problem solve and conquer together. Not sitting in a Sunday School room.
