Prime rib, slow cooked in the oven, seems super fancy and intimidating but it's really easy to make (and hard to mess up)! It slow roasts for hours, depending on how big the cut is, and it's absolutely delicious. Much easier to get the right temperature, too, because the outside will always be more well-done than the inside, so you can choose your preferred "done-ness." Also, there's likely to be leftovers for lunch! To make it, just google recipes online and follow the one with the highest rating. Add on some pan roasted potatoes, a salad or steamed veggie side, and voila- a fancy, delicious, man-approved meal. :)

Plan the picnic - if it rains spread out a blanket on the floor of your apartment instead :) Fewer ants!

Also, if you're nervous to cook something for him - you have a week to do a trial run.

If it's a nice gazebo, then you can still do it. Bring some battery-operate fairy lights, if you have them, and a warm blanket to sit on, plus one to put over your knees.

Does he like rain? See, I love rain, so a rainy picnic sounds endeering if I can stay warm. I also like the inside picnic idea, totally endeering.

Steak is easy to cook, but you need to trial run so you're not serving him the first steak you've ever made. Personally, I always use a cook time calculator that takes into account the type of meat, and how many inches thick it is. I haven't messed up a steak in years. Also, melt some organic butter on the steak while you let it rest (10 minutes of rest while covered is a game changer), it'll take it to the next level.

The idea here is if you can just make a "good" meal, it'll become fantastic because it's you that made it. Seems odd, but it's 100% true.

Does it need to be just you two? For my guy's last birthday I told him I'd made a booking at a nice restaurant, but then surprised him at his favourite pub with all his closest friends. He'd been working a lot lately so hadn't had time to see his friends as much as he'd like to, so even though I would have preferred a night alone a fun night out with his friends made him feel extra loved.

Pot roast in a crock pot is a great option and hard to mess up. I have a recipe I wrote online if it's not too late.
