I personally would not be ok dating out of my league. I'm attractive so I'm happy with the quality of men I attract (I'm also realistic with myself). So if you aren't attracted to the men in your league thats a sign you need to work on yourself/level up. I like people thinking we're a good fit and both lucky to have each other. I view smv & rmv combined- so a high rmv can be 1 point below me and I'd still consider him in my league. I wouldn't be interested in someone with high smv but low rmv as im marriage orientated. See how women who have significantly more attractive husbands get treated by others. It's messed up. You'd need to be extremely emotionally secure and have thick skin. The only exception is if you aren't conventionally attractive but your partner is extremely attracted to you. As long as he thinks you're in his league not significantly below him.
Pretty privilege is real. How you look, dress, present yourself is nonverbal communication. A man in a suit is more respected than a man wearing a sweat stained shirt at first impression. First impressions do matter. Men get treated differently based on their wife as she reflects his values. He gets more social respect if his wife shows that she respects herself/takes the effort and time to take care of herself. You don't need to look like a supermodel in order to be attractive as most of female beauty is controllable. Most women don't have an excuse to let themselves go. A wife with a bad attitude reflects poorly on her husband as well. Part of attraction is personality.
I also wouldn't be satisfied dating someone too below me. I've done it. Guess what it doesn't make him treat you better. But if he's unconventionally attractive but I find him hot/he's my type then it's up to his personality.

what is (unconventionally attractive)
[–]Anonymous_fiend1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Someone the average person wouldn't say is extremely hot/beautiful or is objectively attractive but you find them that way. A person with very unique features is a good example of this. I saw a tiktok which explained it better using hot ugly (unconventionally attractive like Pete davidson) vs ugly hot.
thx

Is it better for the woman to be more attractive than the man
Idk if it's better but it's the case in the entire Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe :p
Edit: this meme shows it accurately lol
I think it's because men's attractiveness lies mostly in qualities other than looks.

I live in Bulgaria and I can tell you that in my experience this isn't true. I see buff or slim relatively attractive men with obese women regularly.
Most couples are matched, however.

It's a bit of a joke, I live in Croatia and most couples are matching. Those who aren't matching, the woman is more attractive ime.
I do believe what I said about men's attractiveness tho.

Yes I agree that doesn’t seem right. I mean who do all the good looking men date?!
Lol! My partner always says he dated up (when we first started dating he jokingly compared us to Shrek and Fiona (before she turns into an ogre). I think he's super handsome but I've never been attracted to traditional looking guys like channing tatum.
I think he's super handsome
Who, Shrek?
:D just kidding, it's nice that you find your partner handsome

Yes because it tends to ease the hamstering women feel. You can tell yourself your man is less likely to have sex outside of the relationship because you are more attractive than him. But reality is regardless men want to have sex with other women no matter how attractive you are. It's not a phase, it's not something a man gets out of his system, it's how men are built.
So it's more about easing insecurities than any tangible difference in likelihood of sex outside of the relationship. Because it doesn't matter if you are an 11 on the face once you've been in a relationship for 2 years it stops to matter. This is why 9 and 10s aren't suited for the long term because they tend to think being pretty is enough and don't develop a personality.

Depends how much more attractive. But in general yes.
Men are visual and women are more attractive than men on average.

I would rather date a man that was equal to me. I'm not an attractive woman, I have always been overweight and never got my teeth fixed and I tend to date men who are very socially awkward and genuinely nerdy or quite effeminate. I think even if they are slightly more physically attractive than me this evens things out. My husband is better looking than me I would say but he's short and bad with people and I think this evens things out. I have only ever dated delicate looking asian men or neckbeard type guys and I'm happy with this.
I'm not attracted to most of the men other women like.
It's probably why I don't feel the need to improve, because I'm happy with the men I attract.

Yes. Men are visual.

I think women are too. Most women have physical standards to some degree which do of course vary just like men's do. However men are more immediately sexually aroused by visual stimuli. A woman won't get aroused by a man immediately just because she likes the way he looks and he's showing off parts of his body. I think that's what people mean when they say that men are more visual.

Idk it depends if ur dating someone who's got low self esteem and ur more attractive than them they'll constantly berate u with jealousy and distrust assuming ur with someone else etc so it really boils down to if they're confident it's not safe for women to date jealous distrusting low self esteem men which looks don't always play a role in sometimes it's just the way they carry themselves.
For example a gross ex I had had thee characteristics and I sent them a selfie of me in my car and they thought I was cheating on them and w someone else it was creepy and scary to say the least.
Now on the opposite side of the spectrum i think it's good for a man to let his woman have the beauty and glory and not outshine her. I think most ppl celebrate beauty in the wife/woman over the man. Like if the woman dressed like a slob (whatever works for you) but the man was constantly wearing name brand and well groomed then most ppl would assume their is something off about the dynamic.
Having a good looking wife probably makes men happy but may also cause issues or jealousy if the man is not secure imo xo

Remember that attractiveness is subjective and personality does indeed matter. A woman can be an 11/10 but if she’s crazy, if she beats her man when she’s angry, if she gets sloppy and embarrassing when she’s drunk, if she’s unhygienic, she gets real ugly real quick.
But to your question: It really depends on the individual. I know a guy who is handsome in a generic sense but he thinks he’s much more handsome than he actually is and has outwardly complained that it’s difficult for him to find a woman better looking than him (it took EVERYTHING in my power to not laugh in his face). He said in front of his girlfriend who pretty much worshipped him. So in this situation: the guy is unhappy he has an ‘unattractive’ girlfriend (she really wasn’t) but the woman was more than happy to have a man “out of her league”. That was years ago and idk if they are still together.
My sister who is gorgeous has said she thinks goofy looking guys (think Michael Cera) are cute and her boyfriends tend to look that way.

I think as a general rule yes because female attraction can grow over time (as in over several dates, not years) whereas male attraction is more rigid so if he feels he feels he could possibly do better at first meet, he will always feel that way and it might unintentionally influence the relationship dynamic in a negative way for both parties.
But I don't think it works if its like a 7 woman dating a 2 man. It's more like the husband is a 5 and the wife is a 6 is better than the inverse or both being equal.
