I have to ask how old you are. A lot of teen girls/very young women (13-25 years old-ish) struggle with how they feel as female because our bodies are undergoing a lot of changes and we become sexually aware of ourselves. This is a really uncomfortable change that alters the way we see ourselves and can create dynamics with boys/men that weren't there before. I remember being younger and feeling repulsed by my body and what it was made for, and sometimes wishing that I could just be sexless because it was so uncomfortable. I think that this is really common, and it does pass.

What helped me was listening to women who normalized the things that I disliked about myself. Women who talked positively about periods, emotional vulnerability, sexuality, etc. It was a slow process, but effective. I also put a lot of effort into my appearance. As women, we feel our best and our most feminine when we focus on beautifying ourselves in a very natural, classic way that celebrates our natural female body. I feel a lot better and I honestly find it to be really fun to be female now.

Ah... a lot of gender dysphoria is traumagenic and would be better classed on the dissociation spectrum. I didn't "feel like a woman" until I'd healed most of my traumagenic issues. And I've heard a LOT of ex-trans stories where they realized they were experiencing dissociative issues that caused their gender dysphoria.

Alady-in-the-streets is correct about mild discomfort and uncertainty in identity, but if you're outright wishing you were a man, I would encourage you to explore the mental health aspect of this. Self-guided Dialectical Behavior Therapy helped a lot, and honestly so did getting married (I think a lot of people, such as myself, will simply never be healthy alone). Unfortunately with therapist you have to be careful, since a lot of them have been trained that "wanting to be a [gender] is a symptom of being [gender]" and frequently don't take other causes into consideration.

That must be a difficult conflict within you. Are you saying that you'd like to transition to male but also desire to maintain your feminine identity? That's a bit above the average RPWer's pay grade, love, you may want to bring the question to a professional.

I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm begging you to understand that puberty and early womanhood suck for everybody! Every fckn day is awkward and horrible! I was so traumatized by my period and bras that I think I cried for like a year. (Honestly I still wanna cry sometimes...lol). It's so, so normal.

It started around 11-12 and wasn't remotely comfortable in my own womanhood until I was 17-18, and even then, confidence and "knowing who you are" do not just come on like a light switch. That just does not happen!!

Becoming the adult you want to be is a process you work at. Yes, you have to work. I don't care if it's becoming the ultimate trad wife, a traveling hippie, or a corporate exec. Identity is not a eureka moment. I don't know where this ever came from.

Dude, I was an artsy weirdo in highschool. It sucks. And, frankly, I'm still an artsy weirdo...I've just uh, settled in a little bit.

Be a bad ass bitch who hits the gym extra hard. I do it 4-5 times a week and look like an absolute lunatic while doing it.

Save your femininity for your partner or a night out. It's not something you have to obsess over all the time. If you want to obsess over anything, it's making yourself a better friend for someone, a better partner for someone, a more highly educated individual for your dream job...whatever.

Don't obsess over this "gender" nonsense. If you're truly dysphoric, please go to a qualified therapist to figure out what's going on. Stay the hell away from advice about this on Reddit, I beg you.
