I've been told that I can come off as a bit judgmental (even though I don't mean to), but it can really be a killer in relationships, friendships and generally in life.

I think that I tend to feel very strongly about my moral values and ideas and I don't like to surround myself with people who don't "fit" my ideal in mindset. Sometimes this can come off as being snooty and unapproachable.

How can I improve my attitude towards people?

For example, one of my feminist friends is moving in with her boyfriend (for me I can't live with a man unless we're married) and I started judging her because I think it's immoral or "loose" to live unmarried, then I had a hard time conversing with her about it because I had to keep my mouth shut and not lecture her.

Or another example is I'm generally fashion conscious and when I meet someone who doesn't put so much effort into their looks, then I am automatically judgmental about how they could be so sloppy.

Third example, I am pretty successful for my age so I start looking down on people who are still struggling, because I feel like I was smart and hardworking enough to make my way and I can't understand how other people didn't figure it out.

Last example, my feminist friend talks about how she needs contribute financially to her and her relationship, she splits the bills equally but for me my boyfriend won't let me pay, he wants to be the provider, so I judge her for thinking she's amazing because they are "equal."

How can I be more compassionate, more relatable?
