Hello, I am trying to figure out how to use weights on my own. This is probably not RPW relevant, but I read that some of you do weights, and I'd prefer to get a female perspective, so I hope that is ok.

As a complete newbie, what should I do? How do I start? Should I get some proper training? or can I learn on my own?

What is your training regime like? I hear a lot of girls are afraid to do weights, because they don't want to get muscles, but I also read somewhere that for a woman to build muscles, they would have to be doing weights more extensively.

I have this gym set available at home. How do I use it? (Sorry about the poor quality, I was trying to remove all identifying information, and I don't know how to use photo editors for it.)

Update: thanks for your tips and helpful advice. I have to sleep now, it's after midnight. Please still contribute if you like. I shall check tomorrow. Goodnight. :)

Update 2: Good morning! Just read through everything. Thanks to everyone who posted and special thanks to /u/kamraym and /u/eatplaycrush for looking after the quality of the posts here. I would not have any idea if the advice was sound or not. I very much just want the basics to get started on the right no-nonsense track. Very much appreciated.

Update 3: So it looks like i should get the book Starting Strength and read that and /r/xxfitness and load up on more protein before starting and then look into switching into an aesthetic program for the long run. Thanks guys and gals. :)

Update 4: 13/10/2014: Shipping to my country sucks!!! It's about $60 ordering on Amazon. My country doesn't have it in any of it's bookstores. I wonder why. Found a online copy of Starting Strength and downloaded that, but I prefer hard copy books :| Subscribed to xxfitness. Ugh. Slow but steady :)
