There are different aspects of femininity in the same sense that there are different aspects of masculinity. Different parts are attractive (to the respective sexes) for different reasons. Both make a complete women (or a complete man) for the purposes of heterosexual relationships, I think.

But to be serious, I would rather call it light vs assertive. Too much light and you are too ditzy, or like Luna Lovegood. I did that too much when I was younger. Assertive is sexy.

I have to admit that I fantasize a lot about being the femme fetale [hence the moniker], while in real life most people describe me as "cute" and "sweet". I agree that it's healthy to incorporate a bit of the dark side into the personality. Jung asserted that disowning the shadow leads to dysfunction, while Freud pushed the idea that repressing the id will lead to a disastrous backlash.

I've seen this with overly nurturing women who've become suffocating and possessive to their loved ones. It's like their whole identity revolves around caring for innocent, vulnerable beings and they're even willing to stunt other people's personal development while justifying that they're 'protecting them'.

To me, the dark femininity is independent, rebellious, ambitious, and somewhat ruthless in pursuit of her goals. She's why we have the phrase "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". I think without her, we would all really be the powerless doormats that feminists try to portray traditional women as.

This is something I also find fascinating. It's like the difference between Arianna Grande who is cute, petite, doe-eyed, and very girly and feminine. Then there's Monica Bellucci, who I always think of as very sexy and feminine, a real woman vs. a girl, she is smoldering, curvy, very womanly. They are both beautiful and feminine, but there's a definite difference.

I guess the question is then is to know when to bring out each side of your femininity at the right time to use it for good. Thoughts?

Femininity can manifest in lots of different ways. I think you have to be careful not to fall into the hole of "any behavior I manifest is a feminine behavior because I am a feminine person and a women". There are some men for whom the most submissive feminine thing you can do is allow them to give up control and do that while maintaining a sweet feminine demeanor even if it's not innocent. Thank you for bringing this up in the subreddit, I think it's something really important to remember.

Yes, maybe check out "The Art Of Seduction" by Robert Greene. I like to combine both aspects. the "dark side" gives a sense of mystery and sensuality which I use at appropriate times with my partner.

Kind of like how some men are into 18 year old virgins, and some are into MILFs? It's a similar dichotomy. The question is how to effectively incorporate both moods into your personality. There's a time for sweetness and a time for seduction.
