Last night my husband mentioned that I didn't kiss him on the back of the neck as much as I used to. He wasn't being mean, just mentioned it in passing in a conversation. My goal today is working harder than I have been. Yes, I've been really sick with the flu, yes work is stressing me out, yes I'm trying to get caught up on housework from being sick. Does any of that matter? Not if my husband doesn't feel loved and cared for. Today I've sent him a sweet text, tonight there will be a nice dinner for him, and you can be sure I'll kiss him on the back of the neck.

When I say a woman must have a bit of mystery about her I dont mean be a secretive avoidant bint, I mean dont take a fucking shit in front of him!! He doesnt want to know how your period is going, he doesnt want to know the long conversation you had with blah blah blah lol

Sometimes I want to talk about the long conversation I had with blah blah blah, so I tell him he can tune me out but I'm just going to pretend he's listening. Hahaha.

Sometimes I imagine my husband has a little monkey organ grinder in his head like homer Simpson when I talk about certain things lol

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Having a conversation about a conversation is something you should do with girlfriends, not your man!

[–]BakerofpieEndorsed Contributor3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Legitimate, but what I want to know is what's wrong with showering together? We have almost never taken solo showers since we first started being "intimate." Haha.

oh god that picture, i still try to only go to the bathroom when mines asleep or out of the house, how can anyone do that!

[–]SweetPinkCuntCake3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I've had people tell me I'm prudish about the bathroom, and that the scenario in the Barbie picture is inevitable, but I just couldn't imagine it. Bathroom time is private, and should not be shared.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

no no no no no! youre not prudish youre perfectly normal. Why on earth someone would think they could maintain attraction and take a dump in front of them is unfathomable

[–]TempestTcup3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Bathroom time is private, and should not be shared.

Hahahaha, that flies out the window when 7 kids share 1 bathroom. Imagine 5 girls all trying to get ready for school and one of the girls insisting on privacy - she would be beaten to a bloody pulp (unless she was the biggest one) :)

[–]SweetPinkCuntCake1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Thank goodness I only had one sibling, and we were on different schedules. That sounds like my worst nightmare!

[–]TempestTcup3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

When you've done it since before you can remember, it's no biggie. Besides, it was a lot of fun having all those sisters (and brothers, too)! My husband was also raised in a large family with no privacy. We are a well-matched set!

As an only child until recently, This horrifies me. You ma'm, are a hero.

[My sister recently turned 2!]

[–]prolixdreams1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Another only child here, also horrified by the idea of anyone being anywhere near the bathroom when I'm in there! I like my privacy thanks...

[–]blushing_goddess2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same! I wouldn't even go to the bathroom with my family in the room, let alone my SO.

I don't shave with him in the shower. I don't even like to brush my teeth or put on deodorant lol. I just pretend to have no "gross" maintenance needs.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

11 years and i have NEVER gone to the bathroom with my H NEAR it, let alone in it

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its wrong. Imagine all the memories he has of you, the one where you smile big when he cracks a bad joke, the one of you cuddling into him at night when you hear a noise outside, the one where you seductively stare at him while he does man shit, the one of you on the crapper heav.....wait what now? Nah not even once lol

[–]SirNemesis1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In Roman Archeology we saw a visual reconstruction of Roman barrack latrines. Quite gross: http://www.odysseyadventures.ca/articles/hadrian-wall/04housesteads_latrines.reconst.jpg

I'd like to think it was more like this (with proper urinal-style-ettiquette): http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0XmWqOlFpcs/TBkH69rmNpI/AAAAAAAAGr4/a3HZuRPyA3c/s1600/08+latrine.jpg

Ew, I'm no prude but I will never be comfortable with taking a dump in front of someone EVER, least of all the person who has to have sex with me later! Blegh.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

This is the kind of stuff I meant by too much transparency in my relationship. Lol

Living in a studio apartment, it's like a challenge to use the bathroom so quietly that it's impossible for the other to hear. Besides, sometimes he'll just spring up on me on to scare me while I'm trying to pee. It makes me laugh, though, so I never care so much.

But we still try. Things are still interesting, in my opinion. If there's ever anything he wants me to try differently, I'll do it for him. He generally tends to know about things like when my period's going, since they (unfortunately) tend to fall on weekends rather than weekdays. It's almost impossible to keep that out of sight and out of mind for him.

It works with us, though, so I'd suppose we're happily a weird couple.

[–]BakerofpieEndorsed Contributor1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, there are some things i try to be more "ladylike" about, but there are very few things I try to be super secretive and private about. He's going to know about my period, but I'll be damned if he's going to see me in the tampon process.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

C has no sense of boundaries sometimes, but I don't mind, since I consider myself to be an open book. I often cannot even avoid having him try to catch me at odd times. :p I suppose we're well suited to be together considering I don't mind it.

[–]BakerofpieEndorsed Contributor1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Haha, we are similar. It's definitely possible to not be as private without becoming like brother and sister.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

At least I'm not the only person! I find that kind of closeness is good in our relationship, so I wouldn't try to change it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Kind of inevitable that a man you're sleeping with regularly will know when you're on your period... It's better he know it's the reason you're turning down sex and not because of something else, and he should be happy to know he'll be getting BJs ;)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Oh, I think the difference is between knowing and actually seeing what's going on (like he sees you putting in tampons or something). Most would have their S.O. know just by gently letting them know it's BJ week or something like that.

C and I are so open, though, that there's no boundary since sometimes he actually tries to catch me at weird times. He always finds out one way or another.

[–]Butimdifferent0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

GF and I live in a small 1 bedroom. She was doing something in the bathroom and talking to me so I looked over from the living room and she was taking her tampon out as she was talking. She saw me see her, then starts to giggle and says she is "un-puppeting" herself.

That one wasn't for me...I like your soft notice better.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's possibly the strangest phrasing I've ever heard.

Most prefer the soft notice, too. C enjoys purposefully trying to catch me at odd moments, which includes just not caring what I'm doing. He has no boundaries sometimes. :p

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

once you've seen it you can't unsee it!

[–]prolixdreams0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have IBS and lived with my husband in a studio apartment and this sort of nonsense still never happened and god willing never will. I wake up earlier than him to take care of most of my bathroomy/maintenance needs and I hope it always stays that way!
