Weekly Self-reflection Thread: 7/12/2015

Keeping it short since i will write more thoroughly in my planner (and i am on my phone lol):

whiney sometimes, not sleeping enough due to work but i am actively working on solutions to be more efficient (at a pretty intense stage w my career). Deliberately trying to back away from being too workaholic...must have fun and relax w boyfriend, which i think i did :)
been good with diet and logging, but gym workouts were abysmal last week and that hasn't happened in a long time
being a bit lazy with getting ready in the morning, being too frumpy and i think that directly correlates to my behaviour the rest of the day
priorities are a bit too workaholic right now and i am nearly pulling allnighters; must plan better and put aside time for self care to avoid burnout
meal prepped again,wooo. Huge time saver and it lasts me until friday
i am too harsh and judgemental sometimes. Noticing i take my bad mood out on rpw sometimes when i see a post with the dude being mistreated lol (apologies ). While it's fine to state what i think, i should avoid putting negative emotion into my posts lmao
i tidied every morning this week for fifteen to thirty min. As a result, my apartment stayed relatively decent. Yayyy

I missed one day of exercise last week, so my goal is still to work out 7 days a week.

My other goal was to relax a bit more and not get to neurotic/needy, which I did well until yesterday when I got a little too ambitious with my Hanukkah dinner and asked my bf to help me a million times. So that goal still stands too. But I think I'm definitely improving on this front.

Hello! Sorry if I don't do this right... Haven't checked in before.

Need to work on pushiness. In example, we were walking in the park the other week and I remembered a conversation we had about him getting friends interviews for the position at his work that just opened up. He said it was a great idea and had somebody in mind, but when I asked about it he said he'd forgotten to. Instead of taking the hint, I stopped walking and told him he could text his friend right now. As soon as the words came out of my mouth there was a shift in the vibe between us. I knew I'd messed up and he didn't like what was happening. He texted his friend and we went back to walking. He brushed it off immediately so I figured it would be worse if I tried to bring it up in order to apologize and whatnot. It's been 2 weeks or so since this happened but it has really stuck with me. I justified being pushy and controlling by thinking I'm acting in his best interest. It was ugly and I don't want to do it again.
I read The Surrendered Wife recently - thank you all so much for suggesting it! It is such a good book. However, I balked at the thought of fully handing over the finances once married. Obviously if my knee-jerk reaction is obstinacy, this is something I need to work on. It is probably a mash up of my control and trust issues. So I took the opportunity to have "the Talk" with him about my financial situation (which is very good for someone my age). He told me about his and seemed pleased to have this new depth in our relationship. We agreed that going forward, it would be best for me to go to him when I consider taking on debt, opening a line of credit, treating myself to something luxurious, etc. Even though it's only been a week or two, I am feeling closer and more deferent to him. I asked him yesterday if I could buy something while we were out and it all felt very natural.
Goals going forward are to keep at it with being conscious of my behavior and not make excuses for indulging poor habits. This time of year really frazzles me but I am trying to focus solely on each day and not freak out about how much I need to do over the next two weeks. I want to be sure to keep up my exercise schedule during all this since it is easy to be "too tired" but I know it's important - it keeps me sane!

It's officially December, which means this is my month of hardcore introspection. I do a friendship purge, if necessary, I plan for the upcoming year with goals, dreams, etc, and I prepare my 2016 Annual Budget!! Yay!

Goals for this week:

Spend < $10 this week on things not already planned for. Period. Mostly likely will be coffee :O
Finish finals and feel confident about my grades.
Purchase xmas gifts for the bf and his son. Yay!!
Finalize upcoming visit from my sister. If she's still flaky, I'm gonna have to give a hard "don't come" because I'm too intro and reserved to have plans be "well, idk we'll see!!"
Save $250 this month in MMA.
Journal at least once this week.

EDIT: okay, been reflecting on my own week...

I have to read this book that's on my kindle. A patron recommended it, and I know I'll love. I have been putting it off for weeks for some reason. She's been asking me if I read it every time she comes in. Gah! I promised her I'd read it, and I want to honor that promise (plus, I'll love it).

I was too irritable with my family all week. I got the flu and felt super achy all over with a headache. I felt like the volume on all my senses was turned way up, and I was annoyed by every tiny noise in the universe. I'm glad I caught myself getting irritated. I stopped and told myself that it wasn't about what I feel (sick) or about what the universe throws my way, it's how I choose to react. It didn't fix me per se, but it got me off out of the thoughtless just doing (without analysis) mindset.

There is so much uncertainty right now with our move. I am trying to be patient and calm while I wait for final word on where and when.

I can feel my mood darken with the weather. My dad and I always go through this mini-depression at winter. I am trying to be okay with all these feelings and reminding myself that it's literally a season, my own private winter. I am trying to find things about winter and Christmas that I love, and I'm paying attention to what makes my heart light. I guess you could say that I'm trying to cultivate gratitude about this most dreaded time.

I'm on vacation now so I shouldn't be on my phone. Whoops....

Actually I can't sleep so I decided to check in with you ladies. I'm trying to be more relaxed about things and make more female friends. (i definitely used to be one of those girls who only has male friends so this is important to me) so far so good. It's a wonder what a yoga retreat will do to you. Ok. that's my goal for now.

*I did a poor job of allowing stress to get to me. I have narcolepsy, and stress will trigger a "sleep attack". This makes it hard to get a good night's sleep.

*I exercised one day last week (which is great because the last time I exercised was several months ago).

*I also procrastinated on 3 separate school-related occasions and I'm paying for it

*I must remind myself: LESS YOUTUBE MORE BIBLE!

*Started Christmas gift shopping!

*Need to stop beating myself up for my mistakes because it doesn't do anything for me.

I've bought most of Christmas presents that I was supposed to and few extras as well. I'm going over to my parents to wrap them with my mom, as she has a lot of wrapping paper that we can share.

My sugar-free month is over, but it definitely left permanent changes to my tastes, as many things taste very, even too, sweet to me now. But I celebrated the month ending by baking cookies using lovely recipes that you shared here a while ago. So thank you all, they were easy to make and delicious.

I've met a guy, and I'm going into this quite carefully. My last relationship ended very unpleasantly, and even though I know now better, I've found out that I'm still bit afraid to get into a relationship after everything that happened. But I just need to reign the hamster and try to see him for who he is, and not who my ex was.

I also have to work on my pushiness. I'm very fast person, I want rsults and actions, and I want them now. I need to learn to embrace the steps and remember that not everyone lives their lives lightning speed. I also need to remember, that I shouldn't butt into other people's issues or try to control them. The only one I can control is me, myself and I. Sometimes I still slip, thinking that I'm just giving advice and helping, but I'm trying to adopt this thinking that people close to me know me, and if they need my help or advice, they ask. I need to learn to trust them as well.

Over all I think my life is in a great place now. The funny thing is that now I know, it's me. My attitude is better, I'm more friendly and open, I listen to others and I've started to appreciate little things more than before.
