Picking a good man who is compatible with your values, goals, and lifestyle. If you're looking for a husband, poor vetting is going on dates with men who aren't looking for anything serious, manipulate, low income/financial irresponsibility, etc. Also a man could have bf traits and a great job without being a good husband. And a man could be a good husband to someone but be a poor fit for you.

Ex: a husband who is laid back and messy could be difficult for a highly neurotic type A woman. Sure, they could make it work it if they find a middle ground/accept one another, but the little things can cause resentment years later. A man has been leaving his dirty clothes on the floor since he's lived alone but is now married to a woman who hates the mess. She feels disrespected since husband knows it bothers her but keeps doing it. The socks don't bother the husband and he feels disrespected being nagged daily. Over time this builds to contempt. But this same man might be a good fit for someone who doesn't get easily bothered by mess.

Men get married when they're ready. You don't turn a man into a husband no matter how long you date. Vetting for rpw is dating with intention.

Vet means to make sure it's a good fit with you in a safe and sane way. It just means getting to know somebody as thoroughly as you can before you go too far.

For instance if you are into volleyball and the other person is in a wheelchair, chances are you're not going to play volleyball with them very much and you have vetted them (found out more of the details of their life).

Often it is used towards kinks: what one is interested in the other one is not interested in.
