So.

I have been in a LTR for a while. Recently my GF went on a trip with her family. We call each other every evening to keep in touch and while I try to be positive and tell her how much I miss her and so on, she only seems to respond with boredom, one-liners like "ok" or "mh-mh" and doesn't seem to make an effort to communicate.

Now understand that normally I'm not an emotional guy. I tend to be logic driven and speak about facts and events, not emotions and shit. She expressed to me that she'd like for me to talk to her about my emotions, so I tried to comply and she didn't seem to respond.

FF to tonight. I was tired of her bullshit non-responses, and I had been reading TRP for a while, so I decided to make an attempt. Instead of being the "emotionally available" guy in the manner she'd asked me to, I was my old self. I talked about some things I wanted her opinion on (because she is an intelligent woman), and I did so in a factual, logical, unemotional way. Not one time did I tell her I missed her or talk about my emotions.

Well, we had a much more interactive conversation, for a start. Then, unprompted, she started calling me names like "love" and "dear" that she seemed to have forgotten this past few weeks. I didn't respond, kept my cool, and she started spontaneously telling me how she missed me and blah blah blah she loves. Only at the end did I give her an "I love you too, god night", to which she giggled and replied "love you, goodnight sweetie".

She was way more positive, affectionate and invested in the conversation, and I did nothing but stick to who I am instead of cozing up to her irrational demands.

I know this might seem little but the difference was like day and night. I'm determined to keep going like this even when she comes back and see how that works. Will report any findings if you guys are interested.
