Awww, man. This was good. So much to learn and observe in just over 60 seconds. The interviewer's question, "Can women be funny?" is a thinly-veiled grab at validation - validation of the interviewer's overtly feminist belief that a.) women are equal to men in all aspects (in this case, comedic ability), and b.) that an army of nefarious "angry young men" on the internet are picking on her. Notice how quick Bill Burr is to actually answer the question, wasting no more than two words on it: "Of course." Bill is pretty sharp to immediately recognize the massive gap between the question itself and the ulterior, agenda-driven motives beneath it. The former, he deals with briefly. The latter, he shuts down like a champ. He's pretty cool about it, too. His implication is that if you're really truly funny ("dick" or "twat" notwithstanding) then people will be laughing at you. The proof is in the pudding. The validation will come not because a man has sided with you in your imaginary victim complex. The validation will come when (gasp) you prove that you're actually funny!

Observe also the delusion and solipsism that the interviewer demonstrates. In a minute-long interview, she has to shoe-horn in that she's an entrepreneur (read: blogger), even though it is completely unrelated to the topic at hand. Observe also the brow-furrowing and solemn nodding that indicates her belief that Burr agrees with her, even though he explicitly calls bullshit on her. Such a plain-as-day example of two people communicating on completely different levels.

Lol I was the first person to point out that the person posting the video on the videos subreddit was the interviewer herself.

She kept trying to explain herself in third person as if she wasn't just trying to get hits on her youtube channel.

Good ol' Billiam just lays the fucking smackdown, totally impartial to all gender politics and bullshit. If you listen to his podcast you'll know the crazy amounts of suffering he has gone through to make it at his career. Literally fucking bombing night after night and working for shit pay at small clubs nearly seven days a week.

I actually have a bit of a hard time believing that women are "funny", as a group, to the level that men are. I've only once had a hilarious girlfriend, and I don't know of any good comedians. When I go to comedy clubs, women are more cringeworthy, making fun of stereotypical women things (baby fever, shopping, etc.).

Not that there's anything wrong with it, mind you. I just don't think women evolved and are encouraged to be funny the way men are. Women put "must make me laugh" on their laundry lists, men usually don't.

The most valuable thing in this video is in the first 8 seconds. Bill receives the question, pauses for half a second, and calculates his answer perfectly. He understands the context behind the question, and delivers the answer he wants to deliver with control.

When he responds, he stays still, sustains eye contact, and says only what needs to be said. As I go through life, I've found that one of the things I do that gives off a beta vibe is responding and then qualifying my answer. He does none of that. I'm learning from men like him.

Bill Burr kills it once again. He's a perfect example of the fact that even a older white dude can still say whatever the fuck he wants (skit about hitting women who deserve it for example) and if it's from a place of value / status, everyone laughs and agrees.

Another example is when comedian Jim Morton debated some feminist blogger, I think Linda West or one of those fat cunts, about whether comedians should be allowed to joke about rape. He schooled her so hard in the argument and she kept up these pathetic appeals to "win over" the crowd by emotional arguments like "rape jokes create a rape culture, do you have a sister or daughter?!". He just kept it calm and interjected some remark to show he wasn't taking anything too serious, dodged verbal traps like a ninja / politician, and basically just exposed the inherent irony in the situation (a feminist blogger with no experience in comedy telling a successful comedian what is funny and what isn't). And he does it while being completely civil, collected, etc, despite the girl trying to portray him as some rape supporting, bitter white man.

Jezebel won't be linking either of these examples.
