I had mild acne into adulthood. In my mid 20's I did Accutane after the dermatologist tried just about everything else.

It's tough. You get very dry, but I was on the lowest dosage and it was bearable. You take it for 20 weeks and then you are done. It permanently changes your oil glands. The dryness pretty much goes away. As did my acne. I get maybe one or two zits a year now.

Some people need to do a second treatment, but only in severe cases.

Every time I see a teen with severe acne, I want to grab them and tell them to have their parents take them to the doctor and try Accutane.

Ignore the rest of this bullshit. Sever cystic acne is a genetic issue that diet and lifestyle alone cannot treat. You need to get on isotretinoin (Accutane) ASAP. It is the one and only thing that will work.

Had bad acne myself until recently. (Bout a year ago) what fixed it for me was - no dairy, only cold showers (with face wash) and going to a tanning bed regularly. And almost forgot - not jacking off. When i say bad i mean face was an open wound, white heads, black heads, red blotchy skin, scaring, strange red bumps that weren't acne but hurt to the touch. My routine fixed my acne, cleared it in a few weeks. If u tried everything els give it a go.

Used to have bad acne. Was a genetic issue as my sister had some of the worst acne possible (thank god you aren't a female with this issue).

Anyway, what worked for me was: drinking 6 litres + of water a day, no processed sugar (only natural carb sugars and fruit), no dairy, working out, and getting enough sun. I would highly recommend a sunbed once a week for 5-6 minutes. UV tanning in moderation is not going to give you skin cancer, its actually very good for your skin. Most people have vitamin D deficiency.

If you do all of that for 90 days and it still hasn't worked, consider Accutane it's the only proven medication to work.

Also fuck all those expensive face products. Find a natural face cleaner WITHOUT sodium lauryl sulfate. Don't over exfoliate. Keep hair out of face. Don't overwash your face either

Acne scars take time to heal on their own, but you want to prevent more acne from developing.

Acne really fucked up my personal development and self esteem/confidence so I know how it feels. Good luck

I had horrible cystic acne over my face back and chest as a teenager. Made me feel horrible about myself, suicidal thoughts, couldn't look people in the eye, hated going to school. Accutane saved me, how ever left me with a lot of scars but I've never had severe acne ever since, 27 years old now.

Just fucking go to the doctor and then fucking use the Accutane which he will likely prescribe, no need to wait till your 30s or 40s or 70s

Cystic acne will likely leave some scars on your face, but they can be fixed as well (by peeling).

When I was a teen I had moderately bad acne and my parents would buy me all these washes which I would use for a couple of days, not see any visible results, and declare that it didn't work. How naïve I was.

What you need to do is wash your face at least twice a day, morning and night. Even rinsing your face with water in the morning helps significantly. Use acne medication with adapalene and either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. If you keep at it for a couple weeks consistently then you should definitely clear up significantly.

Edit: Also try acutane if your acne is so bad. For me personally I got real depressed on it and my face got super dry so I stopped mid-treatment but if you finish the treatment you should be acne-free for life.

Jokes aside, acne do cut down your smv, but from my own experience and watching others, they don't make as much of a hit as being fat or having no game does. So wash that face, but don't kill yourself over it either.

Artificial vitamins like the B-family have been proven to be a independet cause for acne. Check if your supplements contain anything else but protein. No one who eats healthy needs - besides in some cases zinc and Vit D - vitamin supplements.

ugh. i forgot about how much high school sucked for me b/c of this. My heart goes out to you man. My dermatologist put me on "accutane?" and it finally cleared up just in time for my senior year.

Ask around and try to find a dermatologist who specializes in this. If you're in the midwest, PM me.
