I'm 30 years old. My entire childhood was spent getting showered with praise. Told I was great at this, great at that. The best looking boy. The smartest boy. Christmases and birthdays were saturated with toys and treats. I could do no wrong really. And to be fair, I was a pretty good kid. I didn't do much to warrant any kind of extreme punishment. Only about a year ago did I come to the realization that I was the 'Golden Child' being raised by narcissists. All it took for Armageddon to rain down on my blue-pill wonderland was showcasing the desire for freedom. Here's what I mean by this:

It's actually a fairly common relationship - Narcissists and the Golden Child. Narcissists are weak. They are deeply insecure and usually unstable. And it isn't pleasant to have to recognize your parents as narcissists. Especially when, on the surface, they're the life of the party and holier than saints. But alas, narcissists are weak. And they need control. Of something. Anything. The Golden Child is a figurative slave. And the minute the slave shows any indication that he is thinking about his freedom - be it physical freedom, intellectual freedom, or emotional freedom - the gloves will come off and hysteria will set in.

Let's get political. To the point - I grew up happy. Very happy. But very misguided in my thinking. I was always correct. My family was always correct. And those who were wrong... well... they were idiots. They were to be mocked, ridiculed, and not associated with. Family who strayed from the narrative were cut off. Looking back on the arrogance now makes me quiver. Democrats were good, Republicans were bad. The left is the side of peace, tolerance, and kindness. The right are bigots, rednecks, and uneducated. Sounding familiar yet? I grew up with the mindset that it was nothing less than good guys vs. bad guys in this world. We were the heroes and the rest needed learning and correction. The poor souls simply didn't know any better. We were the feminists, the moral people, the progressives. Of course, the leftist indoctrination by the media and schools didn't exactly help me to question things.

About the age of 25 I began to slowly question. I'm not sure what exactly was the catalyst for my internal rebellion, but before I knew it I was reading Hayek and Locke, Friedman and von Mises. I couldn't get enough of Libertarianism. I gobbled up everything in sight. So wait... you're telling me taxation is good? Government control is good? Race baiting? Authoritarianism? This is all good? The party of slavery and Jim Crowe is good? Globalism? The welfare state? LGBTQJSW agenda? The SJWs? The anger? How could this be? How could this be the good side?

It all came crashing down. The house of cards that had been everything I'd ever known. There was no turning back. Of course, I wouldn't dare discuss this kind of thing with my family. My parents and my hippie sister? No thanks. Asking for hell. They could never know. That's fine. I'd just excuse myself when my mom and her SJW sisters went on their martini-driven rants at Christmas, whereas I used to blindly partake. But then I became bolder. I found this place. I began lifting more seriously. Trump won the nomination. These last 2 years I have been on cloud 9. THIS IS WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO FEEL LIKE. A MAN. Spotting the bullshit everywhere is like being addicted to a helpful drug.

So now it's c. March, 2016. I am in love with Trump. Following his every move. Watching every play the establishment makes (and fails at) with utter delight. Thanksgiving and Christmas are on the way. And we NEVER discuss politics in my family... unless of course, it's an alcohol-fueled left-wing circle jerk. That's naturally always allowed. How and when do I act? How will it be received? As it would turn out, I wouldn't have to act.

My dad gets word from his beta as fuck brother that I made a pro-Trump comment on someone's Facebook page. I'm going to hit the brakes here to acknowledge two things: 1) I realize Facebook is poison. But I reactivated it during the bulk of last year to watch the political fireworks and engage in the frenzy. 2) I normally do exercise the Law of Power - meaning, think for yourself but act as others do in the types of situations that hold potential for social tension. But honestly, that's exactly what Cultural Marxists want and expect these days. And I'm not participating in that game.

So I get a call randomly on a Saturday morning from my dad. He is a mess. First he needs to clarify things. After I confirm my support of Trump, the panic overcomes him. How could I support a [rolls out CNN-certified checklist] bully, racist, misogynist, sexist, bigot, xenophobe, etc.?!?!?! He is so disappointed in me. Embarrassed by me. I can't even get a word in. In the past this would have triggered a sense of shame in me. Anxiety. Apology. Guilt. Because that's what narcissist parents do. They guilt trip. Hard. All the time. My mother was always the guilt tripper. My father the face of perfection and know-it-all. Anyway, the absolute only thing I felt, at all, was disgust. This was the man who taught me how to throw a baseball and build a fire. And everything in between. My best friend. The MAN in and of my life. It was pathetic. Politics aside, this is wrong. You don't harass people over politics. Especially people you love. My eyes were wide open. He hung up and I didn't care. At all. I knew he'd come crawling to me for the first time in my life.

And he did. The next day I never felt so alive. Angry and dumbfounded, but completely ok. Around noon, the apology call comes. He overreacted, was sorry, blah blah fucking blah. I didn't pay much attention. I said it's fine whatever. And that was that. This is modus operandi for the beta and I knew it was coming.

And modus operandi for the beta narcissist would be to send an email a week later with some more anti-Trump talking points and many paragraphs making up another attempt to change my mind and make me see the light. And so that came too. I went back hard. I realize now I should have just ignored it. But at the time it set me the fuck off. And my fiancee convinced me to go back.

I could go on and on about how awkward the holidays were, how fake he was in person, how standoffish the rest of my extended SJW family was, etc. It was clear the news spread. I'm not sure if the point of this post was just to rant. I think I needed it. But I'm also wondering if anyone else has experience with this type of nonsense. I love my parents. And I'm grateful as all hell for everything they've ever done for me (which is a ton). I also feel kind of sorry for their generation in that it's really hard to expose yourself to any kind of alternative news. They are brainwashed to a pretty real extent. To them, the left is JFK and the right is Nixon. I get that. But I will never again be a slave to anyone. And I'll sure as hell never expose my kids to a childhood of such disguised toxicity. Thanks for listening.
