Approached by a guy looking to make friends. I live in the gay capital of the UK so might have been gaming me but honestly not sure. I'm posting this because I feel like I've learned more from being approached by this stranger than I would have in 10 approaches with women, and it may be an interesting insight in how it feels for the other party when it comes to approaching.

Having spent an hour in the gym working on the ultimate dad bod I was cold approached by a bloke I never met. He was quite built, decent haircut and not nervous talking to me but I wouldn't quite call him confident.

I was fiddling around on my phone picking music to walk home to when he stopped me on the street with a big smile on his face. He opens with "you look like a cool guy", possibly akin to a direct opener? (you look cute and I wanted to say hi etc) Obviously my first thought is bollocks he's trying to sell me something but I've been stopping and talking to people lately to get more used to speaking to strangers.

After a minute or so of feeling uncomfortable and waiting for the sales pitch he mentions he just likes meeting new people and starts listing some of his hobbies and asks mine. At this point I'm still feeling like I want to leave but I indulge him for a bit because he's massive and might kill me. Then I mention being super busy and needing to go, at which point he steps in front of me and says we should keep in touch. I asked if he had Facebook so I could just decline the invite and he tells me he doesn't and we should swap numbers - obviously fuck that so I tell him I don't have a phone (realised as soon as I said it he stopped me while I was on my phone and had to hold back the laughter)

Long story short I get the fuck out of there and immediately run through everything in my head.

Firstly he was smiling constantly which was really off putting. He also didn't make his intent clear for a long time, I was waiting for a sales pitch that never came and it made everything very awkward and I constantly wanted to leave. He didn't pick up on any signs of disinterest (short uninterested answers, looking away etc) and the conversation was extremely dull - I told him my only hobby was the gym because I didn’t want to get into a big conversation. For those on the edge of their seats his hobbies included chess, scrabble and table tennis.

If this is how girls feel when you're cold approaching then I'm not fucking surprised that people get caught with fake numbers and rejection all the time during daygame, it's actually pretty shitty. This is the first time it's happened to me, if this sort of shit happens to a hot girl multiple times a day then I'm not surprised that their standards are high as hell on approaches.

In short, today I learned that being approached by weird people is not a lot of fun at all so work on your game and don't make the same mistakes this dude made, whether he was just trying to make friends or not.

Also my new haircut must really be the shit.
