I just got done with a terrible conversation with someone who works at my company.

Two gentlemen showed up, one who works in sales, one who works on the technical side of the house. What a surprise, the guy in sales, the first guy I spoke to, was an awesome conversationalist. He has charisma, and made keeping the conversation easy.

Next comes along his counter part, and the sales guy departs. Fucking awful, just terrible. It took effort on my part to make any type of conversation. This guy acted like he was locked in a dungeon from age 2 until last month.

Sure, he can speak, but at every turn in the conversation, I knew I had to put effort in, in order to make it a conversation. Instead of just an exchanging of technical words, I had other questions... talking to him about those topics was like pulling teeth. If I had been equally as socially awkward as him, I don't know if it would have been better or worse.

I'm going to the bar with the sales dude tonight to get a drink, while the other guy goes home. Yeah, it was painful.

Don't be this guy. He was low energy, unenthusiastic, and lacked an overall hunger for all things life. It seemed as if it was an errand to talk to me, and talking to him felt like one because of this.

Whilst the conversation flowed so naturally between his friend and I, I didn't even think of him as a stranger. There isn't much I could do to have this type of connection/relationship with his counterpart, nothing on my part.

I feel as though any type of connection I could have to him, wouldn't enthuse him enough to have that flow charismatic people in conversation have. There was no connection, it was a brick wall. Reminds me of stale crackers for some reason.

If life's got you down, or you suck at talking to people, fuck it, at least try. This guy wasn't even interested, his life seemed so fruitless, like he was ready to die. It made every moment of the 20 minutes feel like I was watching grass grow.

Take care of your mental state with mediation, your physical state with weights and healthy foods, and the social aspect by talking to everyone you see. You may not know how many people you chase off, how many opportunities you miss out on, without charisma. Read the charisma myth, how to win friends and influence people, and for fuck sakes, get out of your own head.
