The problem was not that they thought of you as a meathead, the problem is that you don't know how to build rapport and manufacture "culture fit" with people who don't resemble you. This is your failing, not theirs.

Companies value culture fit, I worked for a big 4 or whatever out of college before moving to startup, you didn't not get the job because you "weren't willing to act like a beta male".

You didn't get the job because you probably displayed poor CULTURAL FIT.

I could do a post on what cultural fit is and how to manufacture it / fake it through the interview, but you know, you seem like you just want to bitch.

You're interviewing for a tech company for a non-exec / vp role, and first off you're wearing a suit and tie. Poor culture fit. No one fucking wears suits and ties, this is already a sign that you don't get the vibe. I bet your interviewer was wearing what, a company T shirt and some jeans? You should wear a button down and formal-ish chinos or jeans, and some brown oxfords at most, and even that is frankly way overkill for engineering roles and such.

So you get billy the fatass as your nervous awkward interviewer.

Your job is to charm him and vibe with him and build rapport. You say "well he already made up his mind" ... yeah no shit, interviewers don't have reason to like you from the get-go, but they gave you an on-site. Companies will not give you an on-site unless they actually want to hire you. This is strike two - have you never fucked a bitch who was dismissive and cold from the get-go? Same principle. It's pickup, you need to pickup the faggot interviewer, you build rapport, ask them questions, collaborate on problems, propose solutions and walk them through multiple approaches.

Bottom line is, you probably gave off "I'm not a good fit for this company because I'm a jackass who can't vibe with a diverse group of people, and I have a minor case of a stick up my butt / think I'm better than people.

Like "oh it made me sick to put up a facade for these fags"... yeah, grow the fuck up, work is putting on a facade. You don't to be yourself at work, boo hoo, you have to get along with betas, poor you. Seriously, the company flied you out to interview with them, and all you had to do was be liked by a few betas. But instead, you bitch and moan about how "unbalanced betas have so much influence over me" like you are the victim of some grand anti-Chad conspiracy.

I know tons of goodlooking, fit people at a lot of these tech companies - one guy I know who's a senior engineer at AirBnb also competes in the San Jose amateur bodybuilding competitions. Like you came off socially terrible, probably didn't impress on the skills front, and now you've invented this massive fantasy about "the cucks hate me because I'm attractive" instead of having some genuine reflection about why you didn't do well.

This isn't what TRP is about - like what did you think, everyone else was going to chime in like "yeah the betas man, they love to see a TRP alpha fail! No alphas ever get hired by these companies, fuck these fag!"

Hope the mods don't ban this some people can learn something at least

I had a similar but different experience last week.

I live in Asia. I had just finished at the gym, and went to a vegetarian restaurant (fuck off) to grab a bite to eat afterwards. I sit down next to a table of three.

I look over in their direction. It's a middle age western couple and a girl I pulled on a day 2 last year (who had a bf at the time... awalt). The girl is a tourguide now, and she's taking the couple around the city.

I lightly engage, but don't pay too much attention to the girl I hooked up with. As it turns out, they tourists are from the same city where I went to university.

As I make friendly banter, the girl is chill. The woman is friendly and all smiles.

The guys is a typical married beta. Fat, probably has a decent paying job considering his demeanor. He seems like a homeowner type: successful by his own beta standards.. But is whole attitude reaks of passive aggression. He questions, challenges, or acts dismissive to just about everything I say. So I quit paying attention to him.

When they leave, I say goodbye. Again, girl is chill and wife is all smiles. This guy looks butthurt as fuck for no reason other than my presence.

Moral of the story: women are fine. They love talking with fun, friendly, alpha males. Beta males, especially betas who are used to a bit of authority in a different situation, will react much more strongly and negatively to the presence of another man who transcends their own limitations. I'm hardly chad. But the mere fact that I was in shape, didn't play by the rules of trying to get by in the US, and was unafraid to engage socially - this all made me a threat to this guy and his self image.

Of course, it does. Even if you were competent, top 5 tech companies don't want someone who is just competent - they get the pick of the bunch. If you're not legitimately special then you're unlikely to get a job. As qualified for the position as you might have been there will have people who were overqualified but happy to take on a more junior role to get the opportunity to work there.

Don't blame other people. You have to play certain roles to get work. Play those roles if you want the job. It's mostly about presentation and making friends with the interviewer. Build rapport. Don't be egotistical in job interviews if you don't need to be.

But sometimes, it's not meant to be. Just move on and pursue other opportunities.

People often say you cannot be overdressed for a situation like a job interview. I would claim: Yes you can be overdressed. If you're applying for a job as truck driver, and you show up with a 3-piece suit, you're going to be judged. I've job hunted for 2 years until I realised I was doing everything wrong.

Sounds to me you've been assuming things too much, especially from the moment you shook hands or entered the room. My logic says you didn't spend time to research the company you're applying. Not just the company, but the department you're going to end up in. Pre-interview, did you even research who your interviewer might be? Google his ass up to find out what kind of person you're dealing with? These kind of things are easily found out and adds up to the preparation. If it is a total blind-date interview, then you should definitely worry about your clothing.

Very surprising, in my experience with the top 5 all of them base their decision primarily on how well you do with Leetcode style algorithm challenges. Does this company not do technical interviews, or did they overrule your technical performance with a "cultural fit" rejection?

I may be wrong but I have noticed that whenever I failed to achieve something it was mostly because I lacked knowledge, skill, something else or I just failed to present myself in the best light. You may choose to blame others if you wish, Alpha or Beta, but this is unlikely to improve your outcomes. Very rarely would an interviewer project dislike following the initial handshake, much less so an experienced individual in a reputable company.

Everybody has a personality, your appearance is a plus but how good you are at delivering appropriate jokes, and digging into that personality to appeal to the audience is how you get hired. Besides the technical interview you should be making references to nerd shit based on tech people being nerdy. Also read into the person based on what they are wearing or what they have at the office. Rings mean marriage and usually kids. PC world loves kids and so do you at the interview. Use empathy, sympathy, etc to gain the upper hand. Analyze the person in front of you and spit back everything they believe in. They already have your resume, they already know your skill. Face to face interviews are all about personality and if you are liked.
