I know the internet is a bastion of atheism and that religious/atheist debates are one of the easiest cesspools to get sucked into, but I also have a higher opinion of TRP minded men, so I'm simply requesting that anyone with any overt proselytizing or "religious sucks and here's why" simply save it and don't let that shit spill into this.

But anyone who is religious, was religious, has any knowledge of history, religion or anthropology should notice that there are some gems of wisdom found in ancient/past cultures, and that many of them are rooted in religion*. I've noticed a few that seem to be regaining some popularity and that maybe we're rediscovering the hard way why these ideas were promoted as "they right way" long ago.

  • Many religions/cultures have told us that masturbation is "evil". And whether or not you agree with that, there are many people who have said that committing to "nofap" either permanently or for periods of time has given them higher testosterone, more drive, less depression, brought out Alpha tendencies, etc.

  • In the Christian Bible, Paul implies in 1st Corinthians that marriage is not really the best idea and that if a man can live life in pursuit of God(you can choose in insert you career, improving yourself, hobbies) he'll likely be happier.

  • The idea of dowries being paid by the wife's family to the man's family shows us that older cultures understood that the man was essentially doing the woman a favor by marrying her, and that she was inheriting the benefit of his work, mind, effort, and status by simply being married to him. She brought nothing to the table other than her child rearing abilities and that their children would gain his resources, status, and so forth just because he chose to mate with her over other women. The dowry was basically a bribe to a man for him to pick one families' daughter over anothers.

  • The idea that a virgin woman was preferable to the point where non-virgins were shunned or even hated seems to have a lot of roots in truths we now know are pretty accurate. Now I'm not at all condoning stoning a woman to death who has been raped or slept around, or anything that savage, but we are learning all over again that there are some fundamental differences in dating/marrying/mating with a virgin female vs. a woman with multiple previous partners. A lot more baggage, children from other men, the reduced ability to chemically pair-bond, the brutal and mostly pointless effort it requires to try to have them unlearn their old habits and train them to be a good partner.

  • The preference for younger woman by older men. Not just for the increased period of fertility and better looks, but similar to preferring virgins, a younger woman is simply not as used up, jaded, and is much easier to actually form a real bond with. The man is not inheriting as many years of baggage and bad choices the younger he goes female wise.

  • Most religions and older cultures severely look down cheating, divorce, cuckolding, and open hypergamy. Women when left to their own devices tend to ruin their own lives through bad choices based on "right now I feel like". Social stigmas helped keep that in check and promoted the idea of what a "good wife" was and we're relearning that a lot of those stigmas were pretty useful. In addition, when a man has a lot less to fear from his woman cheating or leaving him, he can actually allow himself to open up to his wife more and show real love to her, not always having to "game" her into staying with him. The women likely end up actually being happier with a partner who can actually show he's cares for her, even showing some "Beta" tendencies that she might actually enjoy, because he doesn't have to worry about her simply dropping off divorce papers on a whim because she got bored one day.

  • And of course there are a multitude of ideas that directly affect men and how we act. The primacy of being productive, self-sufficient, reliable, strong, smart, etc. A time when "men were men" because they just had to be. A man had to know how to hunt, how to farm, how to repair his own tools, how to do business, how to deal with other men either through words or even violence because there was no three letter agency doing it all for him.

Does anyone have any other things to add to this or any other insights? The more and more I read TRP, combined with my knowledge of Christianity, I just sense a lot of similar themes in the way men, women, and families were "supposed" to work and that it seems the farther we've drifted away from these things the worse off we all seem to have become.

*Whether you think religion was crafted by men to thrust social order on the world, or whether you think religion is true is irrelevant. Many of the ideas found in religion seem to have ended up being pretty spot on.
