Dating sites inflate the SMV of even the blandest women (and men too) moreover she is making an opinion of you only based on your pics and the first message you send her, obviously there's also a chance she may never notice you.

The thing is, you aren't the ONE IRL: you are one of many guys who will flirt with and hit on any decent looking girl with a pleasant personality.

Ok, so maybe not 20 over the course of a weekend, but you saw how lame many of those emails were.

It's a different game but is not pointless overall because it isn't your game.

If you have a good picture, a solid, thoughful profile, and catchy headline and an interesting opener then you go to the front of the line among the other 19 guys.

Granted, that won't always happen and response rates can be well under 10% if you are going after the young hotties, to well over 20% for older or less attractive women (or if you are imply doing it wrong and wasting your time chatting rather than closing). Still, It takes very little time to fire off 100 openers, have some back and forth with a dozen of them and close for a date with more than one of them in the space of a few days.

It's no more time consuming than approaching in person and playing those odds to lock down a date, and at least as effective if you know what you're doing.

I'm no Chadly Six-pack and probably too old for the Tinder market in any event. Clubs and night game have never been my thing, and if I am out and about during the day it is usually for a reason so I rarely approach and run day game for the hell of it, and certainly don't specifically go out on the prowl.

A lot of people slag online dating for the same reason people slag a lot of things: they are unsuccessful with it.

It's the same on tinder. I am just happy I am a high percentage guy that can use tinder as a meat conveyer belt. If you are not that, you either best use your time improving yourself till you become that, or you become wealthy and hire high level escorts.

If you aren't in the top 20% of men with regard to appearance, online game is not for you. Sure there are exceptions but it's a numbers game.

Online dating rules:

Rule #1: Be attractive.

Rule#2: Don't be unattractive.

6'2", white, fit, square jaw, decent facial symmetry. Mid 40's.

Factoring for age I have no real competition among my peers with regard to physical appearance.

Due to the PoF age limits, my low range is 30 yro, high range I set at 45 or 50 yro depending. These women all want a man in his mid 40's.

My PoF profiles have a full body pic of me, a pic of me and my dog, and a close-up of my face. The profile is a one liner like "You, me, and a box of wine at the beach." followed by a bunch of underscores and stuff to get past the minimum character threshold.

Women open me, I rarely have to open them. If I do send the first message I will n-close 50% of the time, and I get a reply to 9/10 of opening messages.

After a dozen or so messages it's "I got to go but I only PoF at home because the app eats my phone battery. My number is 555-555-5555, shoot me a text and we'll talk later."

If they don't send their number shortly after the first contact, I block them and move on down the list.

It is a piece of piss, almost boringly easy, because I have the height advantage and a strong jaw. Controlling my diet and working out are just the frosting on top.

Agreed. Don't do it...unless you want to get some laughs reading their inflated demands on their profiles and their expectations. That said, I do get some dates and I also maintain a #1 that's been going for over a year. No, we did not meet on Match. None have been worth more than 3 dates so far. The quality of the women tends to be low and their expectations high. Also, I've noted on Match.com a huge disproportion of women who characterized themselves as "liberal" versus those as "conservative." May just be my area, but I'm in a suburb on the west side of Houston, so it seems an anomaly to me...or maybe by the late 40-50s, their feminism is exacting a harsh price. I've also noted a huge number of women who describe themselves as "widows." Granted, the life expectancy of middle-aged white males is dropping, but could that really be the cause? Really? I suspect these are actually single moms disguising their past. Some humorous lessons for those thinking about looking into it: 1) if they only show face shots, no matter how cute, she is a land whale from the neck down. 2) if there is only one profile photo or very little info, she is a scammer. Also, if she wants to communicate extensively without meeting, yes, a scammer. 3) If she is late 30s and "definitely wants children," she has baby rabies and has a high likelihood of fertility issues and if she does get pregnant, producing a child with a chromosome disorder. That just goes with the age. She missed that healthy baby train a long time ago. 4) My best results (at least in getting dates, but not keepers) involve the following filters: a) She must be at least 4 inches shorter than me. b) I make more money than her, but I'm not telling her how much I make or what I have, c) I accept younger, never same age or older. I'm in my late 50's and had a few dates with a 29 year old. Unfortunately she was foaming at the mouth with baby rabies. Cute, but rabid. D) Do not select dates from the same town/area as your #1 if you have one. Spread your plates over the compass and different career fields. That way you minimize the likelihood of unexpected meetings. Choose women from different career fields to minimize chances of plates meeting at a conference and comparing "boyfriends." That happened to a buddy of mine...

Just a nugget of my old ass wisdom. Women want 'to be swept away' by a guy 'fate' decided for her to meet. Online dating is as close as a job application to such a fantasy.

Yes, except the lunch meeting thing is something that her friends should do with her initially, not a potential lover.

I would advise you not to put dinner dates an alternative experience to online dating.

Also, it's not necessarily so that a message from a guy means she sees him as a loser. It depends on the girl and the content of the message. For instance, there's a difference between a guy that uses online dates as another option versus a guy who needs it to get a date. As you can predict, one of the two will give more desperate messages to women/girls.

Online dating is fine, but some rules I recommend:

If you're using online dating as a crutch because you can't meet women in person then you may have some success, but the number of high quality women you meet will be low and the number interested in an LTR with you will be zero. If you're having problems meeting women in general you need to focus on self improvement and having strong male friendships.
Know the signs of a quality woman. A woman with a short profile that says nothing specific about her is low quality. A high quality woman has something specific in a guy she's looking for. Low quality example: "I love to laugh and be outside and have fun". High quality example: "I love animals and I'd like to live out in the country on a ranch someday and run my own veterinary practice". The high quality example tells you what she wants to do with her life and if it fits in with your long term goals then you know she's one you should message. It's tempting to want to go out with a woman because she's hot and just your type, and I've done it myself, but the rule has always turns out true. If a woman doesn't have any goals in her profile, it's because she doesn't have any.
Don't measure success by numbers. If you make a generically masculine profile with your abs showing then sure, you'll get a lot of messages, but they'll be almost all low quality women. A high quality woman is looking for a man who can help her accomplish her life goals and who she can help accomplish his life goals. If you don't give any reason for her to think otherwise, she'll assume you're just another guy with no direction in life.
Don't waste your time. Most sites have the ability to sort by recently active and new users, so you can quickly see if anyone interests you. Don't waste hours endless wading through women you aren't attracted or interested in at all.
