Online dating it like anything else, it is what you make of it. Specific to OKCupid: OKC treats you as if you are ugly at first, because as far as it knows, you are. They monitor your "click through's" and the ratings that women give you. Over time OKC will decide if you are attractive or not and match you with appropriate chicks from it's database. I know this because I eventually got an email saying that I was attractive and they give all this info, and sure enough, a lot more decent chicks started showing up in the "matches" and "quiver".

It is what you make it. You can meet a lot of losers there or waste your time, but then if you don't want to meet losers, don't message them. If you don't want to meet ugly chicks, don't message them. Don't want to meet single mothers? Don't send them a message. Do you see the pattern?

A guy from an AskReddit thread used OKC to message 400 women with "Why haven't we fucked yet?", then fucked everybody who responded. Rinsed and repeated. The guy sounded like he was having a blast.

If you were on it long enough, statistical probability says you will eventually meet at least 1 girl who you actually like as a person and also want to fuck.

However, everything said here in this thread is true, LOTS of post wall women who are out of options. Lots of fatties, single moms, nasty bitchy princess women looking for providers. But as I said, you control the send message button, so I don't see the problem.

Also if you go on there, don't give up trying to date in "the real world". Also don't spend too long on OKC or writing messages in general, unless it's to spam. OKC is a great way to reduce the search costs of finding chicks to have sex with or date or whatever you want...

Think about it, on your best night at the bar could you talk to 30 or 40 chicks? No fucking way. Not me anyway. On the downside, it's not real game, you aren't really interacting with women. So it's of limited use. But that's the trade off.

TL: DR; It is what you make it. Don't waste too much time on it, but there is some merit to it.

Online dating is a tough a game. I've heard of very few success stories, if we count success as obtaining at least one plate from it. Women use it as a validation pill dispenser IMO

If you apply game theory to Online Dating, you get a very clear picture about the kinds of people who use such a thing.

The types of guys that use online dating as a means of expanding their dating potential are variable. At any given time, you can have desperate guys and guys looking to extend their reaches.

For women however, consider that females are approached often and/or are surrounded by males. For a woman to consider online dating, she is likely to be out of options (because she has a reputation, because she is hitting the wall, etc.)... or because she can game the system well to get what she wants. That means that you'll get very below-average females or fairly attractive females who are likely to get you to take them on a date and have you pay for things.

Online dating is a lose-lose for most males that don't understand those dynamics and don't know how to handle such women. For the handful that do know what they are doing, they can get extra sex from it. It really isn't a good idea to look for LTRs that way.

I use OKC. A few months back, with many unsuccessful first dates, I decided to delete my existing account. As I began to reestablish myself in the forgotten realm of /r/theredpill, I decided it was time to give OKC another go around. Thus far, I have been quite successful. To begin with I created an intentionally antagonizing username. The username of course, I cannot reveal. From the start, I had girls messaging me. When I messaged women first, I usually ask a simple, sometimes silly question. In my past experience, I would try way too hard in having the perfect sounding message to attract said girl. This tactic rarely worked. My success rates have been much higher, in terms of responses. Within 24 hours, I am currently talking to 6 girls, have 1 date setup, and 3 pending response.

I know this is all baby steps, but my mentality has completed changed, since recent events. My tip is don't ask anything too personal, keep it simple, make her laugh, and set up a date. Simple as.

Overall, I still advise actual human interaction as the best way to meet girls.

I tried online dating just for yucks. Here is my experience:

Posers. They will tell you that they will sleep with you. BTW, I am closing this account meet me at this other web page. Basically they are try to get you to join another dating site that cost money.
Prostitutes. These women will make you feel like a million bucks. When you call them at their house. They tell you how much it will cost them to nail them.
Nigerian con men. I saw this in TV. They charm your pants off and then ask for money. They will say something like, "I am in Africa right now and I would like to meet you but I need money for the air fare.
Validation women. There are women on these web sites that get an ego boost by getting the attention of men. They don't want to date you. They just want to know that you are on the other side salivating.
Nut jobs. These dating sites attract flakes. Real mental cases.
Misleading pictures. I heard of a story where this guy thought the woman was beautiful. Well it turns out that the picture he saw was just from the waist up. From the waist down, she was an elephant. Lots of times the picture does not match the person.
Disabled people. People in wheelchairs, or can't walk and so on are on line. I heard of one person was going to hook up with someone they meet online and they had no teeth.

So there you have it. My experience and the experience of others. Personally, I think that it is hard to meet someone online. It seems to me that online dating is made up of social rejects that can't connect in real life.

If you pay the $20 you can sort by body type and attractiveness. If you choose no kids, lean body types and 3+ stars, it separates all the wheat from the chaff.

Online dating is a tool for lazy women to get exposed to greater samples of men and pick the best. I say "lazy" because it forces them to sit on their butts all day reading messages instead of actually being proactive, going out and meeting guys. It's also a huge validation/ego boost having guys message you, which even further raises their sense of entitlement and hypergamy ("if I get 100 message a day, then I must surely be worth A LOT and I shouldn't settle for anything less than perfect! :)"

But hey, women make it sound like approaching guys IRL is terrifying and "desperate-like". I say: force them to make an effort to meeting guys by boycotting this shit. And not to mention most profile pics often alter reality.. IfyouKnowWhatImean

I met my current girlfriend on OkCupid, and she's attractive. The problem with online dating is that for every attractive girl there's a hundred guys who are going to message her. So you're success rate is going to be way lower than in real life.

The advantage is that you can message a dozen girls while eating lunch. There's really no reason to not at least put a profile up and check it every once in a while at least.

Online dating can be okay with good RP frame, but going out is the way to do it.

Take me for example: I'm fat, ugly, not very clever and broke. So being online, she can just not respond to what I write her and that's that.

When a woman meets me in person, I'm 6'2, I hold eye-contact like a laser, I'm strong and dominant.

I can't show her these qualities online. When women see them in person, they cream their little panties. Fuck online dating.

Online dating was and is a great investment for my strategic knowledge of the female approach, they present the "qualities" they are looking for...basically "tall dark and handsome" (a fucking fairy tale). And if you have said qualities you have a 50% chance of getting a response via email.

I had my heartbroken and went into a rational tailspin after the "love of my life" hopped on a plane with out so much as a "fuck you"....just vanished...so i swallowed the red pill and came out a better man for having conquered my own heart. Once i decided to "get back in the game" (its so much more than monopoly or chess to me) i decided to 1. Go out a couple of times a week. 2. increase my naturally produced testosterone (gym, paleo diet, and exposure to females) 3. study hardcore psychology and philosophy (relevant for arguing people's morals and causing cognitive dissonance). annnd 4. starting a match.com account......i, as a tall, athletic,educated, and well versed only child of a psychotic single mother....can always find a date in whatever town i might be staying in to someone between a 6 & 8.5

The winter after my heartbreak i had sex with 11 girls in two months with a full time job and time to hang out with my bros...once i moved to DC it calmed down quite a bit because it was during military training and i literally had no way of getting to the snatch. If you send the right signals on match.com...you can most definitely clean house.

POF is more like plenty of single moms. It's pretty terrible.

I don't think its a bad idea to scan the sites and look for a jewel in the rough, but online dating just doesn't translate. I don't feel like any of the principals of game translate. You can't really use eye contact, or flex your stuff online, and it ultimately turns into a game of getting to know each other in text.. which is a boner killer.

Umm online dating is cool but you know what works 10000X better is going out to bars and clubs. I dont drink I hate cheap liquor but I know a good hunting ground when I see one. That my take. If you go out 4 nights a week for a few months in a row you will find your ACES. But dont go out to pick up chicks just go out and have fun.
