The only way anyone really cares about your ideas, experiences, stories or philosophical beliefs is if

a.) they are your very close friends

&

b.) they have little to no stress (finances in order etc)

Beyond that the exceptions are extremely limited but generally no one really cares what you have to say. When a wealthy businessman walks in to a car dealership and begins "talking" with the veteran salesman they exchange stories back to back. They aren't really talking, more like battling in a game of "Who has the richest or craziest connections".

When your at a party talking to a woman more often than not if you're talking about yourself or your own ideas they're just waiting until you stop talking to begin talking about themselves, or the slightest distraction arises (such as a phone vibrating or a Stacy walks by and just blatantly interrupts) and thats that. Even if you follow the 80/20 rule, during your 20 she's looking at her proverbial watch.

Is it all in the presentation of how you explain your ideas to keep people interested? I can't remember the last time I had a real, powerful conversation that left me in a social glow afterwards. Most social interactions I feel are some kind of American Psycho exchange where I'm smiling, I'm shaking hands but I (and they) are simply not there.
