I have two $1500 Turkish suits and a collection of $100 to $200 Italian dress shirts. Best fitting things ever, but they don't do jack shit for me at the club. Hiding my muscles seems to be a pretty lousy strategy.

[–]AlphasEatBetas6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I feel that bro. Gotta show off the gainz whenever possible.

[–]tuxidomasx2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i cosign this. I wear suits to the club when its cold, but I kinda prefer a fitted tshirt when its warm enough to wear one because of my muscles lol

Also, if i'm wearing a suit, I'm going for the fashionable/stylish look (fitted, color splashes, cool socks, etc) . Not a plain business-y looking suit.

probably don't have enough

[–]tropicalfire4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I dont think its a proper way to dress for all ages tho. I am 20 years old in college, above average muscularity and height. I cant imagine myself wearing a suit.

Correct me If I am wrong.

[–]wolfNshepherd[S] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

People will assume you belong in the suit.

[–]PartyTrickster0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Also 20, wore a suit almost all last year, made out with one girl. Wearing black and white t shirts this year, hookups are weekly. Clothing affects you, but the impact is negligible compared to other factors. I've found what makes me feel comfortable, and that's far more powerful than "dressing to impress"

Edit: Actually stopped wearing the suit because I couldn't afford to keep having it tailored to my growing frame

[–]tropicalfire0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What do you mean having it tailored to my growing frame?

[–]PartyTrickster0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Putting on some muscle mass, brah :D

[–]tropicalfire0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh then I got it right. But I didnt know you could make a suit bigger while you are growing.

[–]PartyTrickster0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean that's the issue, tailoring is damaging and can only go so far, I'm not wearing a suit unless it's a perfect fit, I can't afford a new suit, ergo, I'm not wearing a suit

[–]silvertongue35 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It will make you stand out amongst your age group. That said, it's not the same thing as saying you need to do it. Use your best judgement.

[–]RandianHero8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Eh. Suits and blazers are a once in a while kinda thing. That's why it's called formal wear. Wearing them all the time just looks like you're trying too hard. I've got a couple custom suits I wear to special occasions and business meetings. Otherwise, it's jeans and t-shirts for me.

[–]wolfNshepherd[S] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Otherwise, it's jeans and t-shirts for me.

Or jeans and t-shirt + blazer.

[–]RandianHero0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah, I'm a motorcycle jacket and/or hoodie kind of guy. I prefer not to wear clothes I have to worry about getting trashed if I'm riding or mixed up in a scuffle.

[–]Endorsed ContributorInvalidity0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wearing suits and blazers all the time is a very good way to get pegged as a provider. It will give you more looks if you have few other redeeming features, but it's not the route that men should be taking.

Just to confirm the article with two real world FRs:

1.) Ex literally CRIED the one night at a wedding that I could not stay with her in the hotel due to feeling sick (honestly, I was actually sick from the food). Was wearing a suit. She REALLY wanted me to stay that night for some reason... more than usual.

2.) Another time towards the end when things were dying out, I came over after work. we were kinda arguing over some things, I was wearing suit pants, dress shirt, no tie, sleeves rolled up. .... yeah, we know how that ended up in her room.

3.) I've verbally had her say "Wow, I really like that vest on you." - suit with vest.

Now, everyone has a particular liking of clothes and these were all from the same girl. I've had another girl who particularly like plain black t-shirts and jeans on me.... but even with her, a suit still 'wowed' her. We as guys usually like short skirts, tight dresses, heels. Think of a suit as your tight dress. It's the EXACT same thing.

Honest question, why do chicks dig suits so much? Is it the status that goes with it? A look of power and money or something? I've noticed similar things happen to me when I wore formal wear.

Suits on a man are like lingerie on a woman

In basic, the first time the Uniform of the Day is not fatigues, you feel ten feet tall. Class A's were like big boy clothes.
