Not too long ago, after finding TRP, did I realize how wrong I truly was concerning my father. When I was younger I was a typical know it all and I failed to listen to his wisdom. His words weren't refined. They weren't put into books and his name, a common name, was as earthly as his outward personality. However, my father is an introspective giant and once I got past my own bullshit and apologized to him for not respecting his advice I realized just how wise he is. Here are some tidbits that I hope you men find useful:

*"Don't chase after women and don't fixate on one. Build yourself up and then you'll realize that you won't have to do any chasing at all. They'll come to you."

*"Never give a woman all of you attention, all of your money and especially all of your love."

*"When things are difficult make yourself into an impenetrable wall. Make your face stone."

*"If you must show anyone what you know make sure you work extremely hard in private. No one will care about how hard you worked they'll only ever talk about the results. Put on a good show."

I'm still mulling over his most recent advice. I asked him how he deals with the fact that the world is seemingly such a terrible place. He said:

*"I used to think like you. I wanted to help everyone. I thought I could make a big difference in the world. I still think I can, but you need to first understand the sort of man you are. Define your world. My world is my family, that's it. I can control aspects of my family. I can give advice, maintain my home, keep them fed etc etc. Beyond these walls everything is out of my hands, but here I am a king. Now, this is going to be hard for you to hear but listen anyway. Are you a man worth following? Do you want to change the world? Ask yourself, if you saw someone like you running for office or trying to lead others would you follow yourself? If not then make yourself into that man. If there is no one out there you must become that person that you want to lead."

That's it for now. If you guys would like to hear more just let me know I'll ask him for some advice.

P.S. A little backstory if you would like. My father was born the youngest of 10 children in a rural Mexican town. From when he was six my grandfather would force his sons to work the land with pick, mule and plow to "make them strong". My father then moved to the US at 16 by himself to seek out his fortune. There he saved a mans life, bought his first car (a montecarlo) and his first pair of Levi's. He went back after a year to his hometown a local hero and the most alpha person in a town full of people who didn't want to stand out. He now runs his own business and lives in semi retirement, only working because he gets bored otherwise.
