if you want me to 'act professional', I can tell you that I'm not interested. I'm sitting in my home office wearing a bathrobe. The same way I'm not going to start wearing ties, I'm also not going to buy into the fake politeness, the lying, the office politics and backstabbing, the passive aggressiveness, and the buzzwords. Because THAT is what 'acting professionally' results in: people resort to all kinds of really nasty things because they are forced to act out their normal urges in unnatural ways

This always happens when a woman tries to enter a male space. there are very very few male spaces left these days that haven't been forced to have quotas and PC bullshit injected into it. Its just that "donglegate" bullshit all over again.

These women fail to understand male social dynamics. All male groups have a sort of right of passage where people have to prove their worth. This includes berating the lower members who must show their mettle and climb the ranks. this is how respect is won and how men thrive. All male groups I have ever been a part of shared this dynamic of lots of ribbing and respect earning. It makes the members strong and 'battle hardened' to the environment and ensures that those with the most talent rise to the top.

Then as always women have to invade and try to mak them change the way things are done to cater to them. "No more insults, they hurt our feeeeelllss! Everyone should be equal and not offend anyone". What really pisses me off is that women seem to just have to invade every male space their is. sports, programming, etc. This is usually forced by the government with quotas and affirmative action, and everyone has to then walk on eggshells instead of getting shit done.

You don't see men invading women spaces, do you? Men don't start demanding to be accepted into knitting groups and then saying, "lets make this place male friendly and start being crude and outcome orientated" We leave them to it, and don't get offended there aren't any men in it and claim it must be because its a matriarchal, sexist group.

Anyway, because of this there is very few male friendly places around. That's why I like this place. One of the few places I can just speak my mind without the PC brigade jumping on me for not being "sensitive" to someone.

And this is one more reason why Linus deserves all the respect he can get. I don't know about his personal life (he might be a beta, I have no clue), but he really knows his shit when it comes to social interaction with distributed developers.

This doesn't belong on TRP. There is nothing "woman-specific" about this -- plenty of males have complained in the past about Linus's language and it has always been dismissed in similar ways as this one. I see it as more of a cultural difference than anything, perhaps party because of Linus's own admission. If you think the overly-PC culture is bad in the US, ask someone about the office culture in India or China.

And no those cultural differences are not due to "feminism in the workplace." Software is always a boys' club and the (few) women in the industry know this and accept it. They would not be able to succeed in a male-dominated industry without at least being partially redpilled.
