And this is the problem with modern dating: Women love the attention and the freebies from dinner dating but this is quid-pro-quo prostitution. In the old days, before pre-marital sex and the pill, a woman would get a bad "reputation" without even sleeping with guys. If she was going out on lots of dinner dates and not getting serious with someone ("going steady"), the men would be the ones sharing information that she was a flirt and waste of money. Also, back then, women sought to get married young.
On men's side, what would be the point of being a "gentleman" and going out on hundreds of dates where they didn't get laid for a decade before getting married? I remember a gal who set me up saying "If you paid for the date you could have had such a great time" and I chuckled that for men, dating itself is a chore. It's like trying to chat up a cop hoping to get out of a ticket. You're on your best behavior.
So "traditional dating" back then meant that women and men both were on the hook to not waste each others' time or money.
During the transition phase, the 70's and 80's, men were suckers by being a gentleman. They would get used as an ATM party clown but oftentimes, after a woman played the field and enjoyed all the attention, she'd get a beta bucks but have a pretty low body count. IMO, back then, I still thought the system stank.
Now whether this was a blessing, guys started pushing back: After a certain number of dates, with 3 being the "lucky" number, if she didn't put out you'd assume she was going to friendzone you because many did and women also seemed to rather like men being "Forceful" and regarding the "nice guys" as shit-tested wimps.
Keep in mind that this was all driven by women's addiction to the paid "dinner date" in a modern time when men are not guaranteed that she won't sleep around with someone else.
I'm going to advice my daughter (she's only 5 now) that no free dinner is worth becoming a whore over. A decent man won't mind waiting for commitment if he's not being treated like an ATM machine and she doesn't play the field too much. If after a few dates it doesn't work out, he doesn't feel used. In other words, radical concept: Treat people with respect and don't put them in a position to be taken advantage of or owing them anything. You know, you can't cheat an honest man.
Something like that happened with me recently on a timeshare presentation: The pushy salesman was trying to push his narrative that I'd save money if I bought a timeshare for $20,000. I said that I didn't see much gain for the risk of losing at most about $300 a year. So he responded: "You're just going to be ok then with losing $300 a year rather than buying in the long term now?"
And I answered "yes". I didn't argue with him about it. I accepted his judgement that my rejection of his proposal was a bad decision (as he claimed, I think it's BS) but he had nowhere left to go. The presentation was over by his own fiat.

Below 30 they have something we want (unless they are a single mother), above 30 we have something they want (unless they're a single mother, then they start younger than 30).

The irony of this is these same women will bemoan that "all guys are assholes." I once queried a girl who brought up "niceness token" as follows: "Wait, let me get this straight--the men whom you sleep with are not nice and you won't sleep with the men who are nice?" Her: Thats EXACTLY the problem.
