Christians don't care given this is the root of the split between Judaism and Christianity. The Old Testament, aka the Torah, showed God's relationship with his "Bride" (aka the Children of Israel) as a repeated metaphor so Jews don't have a problem with that part. The point is, in Christian doctrine a man is required to love his wife with the sacrificial love that Christ showed his "bride" (the church). So I say we need to look at the Old Testament to get a handle on the precise nature of that sacrificial love. There we don't find a whiny Beta male "serving" his bride no matter what she does and no matter how badly "she" treats him. We find a God of wrath who takes names when his "Bride" treats Him badly and punishes her with terrible fierceness.
